I am in my seventh year of living a healthy life style!!
I celebrated my fifth year anniversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2018. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

I started off with walking. If you would have told me three years ago that I would have run a 5k, I would have never believed it!

As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people!

Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son three years ago to Anorexia Nervosa. I am still in the grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me.

I am currently trying to only eat "whole foods". I eat 1 ingredient foods.I no longer eat white flour, meat, fish or dairy. Watch the movie "Forks Over Knives" for more info.

I am a Vegetarian.
I walk 5 days per week.

I practice yoga.

I walk 1 mile per day with my dogs, Roxy and Mayzie - weather permitting!!

Personal Information:
I have been married for 28 years. I have two sons (one is in Heaven) and 2 beautiful little Boston Terriers named "Roxy" and "Mayzie. Having dogs who love to walk is such a great gift...they get me out everyday. All I have to do is look at those big brown eyes and I am out the door!!

    Thank you for your kind words. He is going to one of the top neuro-opthomologists in the country. He doesn't play contact sports - he weight trains. It is still a mystery, hopefully his peripheral vision will come back soon. He is in a mini-triathlon this weekend, helping to keep his mind off of it.

    I ran my second 5k in 29.47!


    My heel swelled up so I have been icing it for two days. Today I walked a mile -- trying to stretch it out now that I am able to stand on it. I don't want to go to long without exercising -- scared I will stop if I do.
