I am in my ninth year of living a healthy life style!!
I am celebrating my eighth Sparkversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2020. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

I started off with walking. If you would have told me years before that I would run a 5k, I would have never believed it!

As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people!

Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son five years ago to Anorexia Nervosa. I am still in the grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me.

I am a pescetarian. I have been on a "whole foods" plan since November, 2018. I eat 1 ingredient foods. I haven't eaten meat in 5 years. I no longer eat white flour, eggs or dairy. Watch the movie "Forks Over Knives" on Netflix or Amazon Prime for more info.

My Program:
I am a Vegetarian.
I walk 5 days per week.

I practice yoga.

I walk 1 mile per day with my dogs, Roxy and Mayzie - weather permitting!!



Personal Information:
I have been married for 28 years. I have two sons (one is in Heaven) and 2 beautiful little Boston Terriers named "Roxy" and "Mayzie. Having dogs who love to walk is such a great gift...they get me out everyday. All I have to do is look at those big brown eyes and I am out the door!!

    Our meeting is rescheduled for 9 PM right after :) I hope you are able to make it! I also teach Monday mornings at 10 AM, Wednesday mornings at 10 AM, and Thursday afternoons at 12 PM..can you make any of those? :)

    I am glad your surgery went well. You will definitely know it if you put weight on your foot. My crutches were too short for me and I hung over the top of them. I pitched forward and fell when one of the crutches caught on a rug. The force of the fall pulled the rubber cap off the crutch that caught and I put my full weight on my foot as I was thrown forward.

    I fell twice while recuperating from the surgery. My recommendation is to do as much as you can before your husband goes to work and then try to wait until he is home to be up and active. I had a wheelchair, but it would barely fit though a doorway in our house.

    My son got in a mood and said I was faking that I couldn't walk and took my crutches and wheelchair one day after my husband left for work and I was sitting on the sofa. My husband gave him a talking to when he got home. I did forget how to walk and was really scared to try. I had to do physical therapy since they cut my Achilles tendon so they helped me through it and had me to practice on going up and down steps with the crutches.

    Thank you for your comment on my blog about binging. Sometimes I think we think others here have an easy time of losing weight when in fact they may be battling a lot of different things. I wanted those that are having difficulty to know that they are not alone.
