I am in my ninth year of living a healthy life style!!
I am celebrating my eighth Sparkversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2020. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

I started off with walking. If you would have told me years before that I would run a 5k, I would have never believed it!

As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people!

Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son five years ago to Anorexia Nervosa. I am still in the grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me.

I am a pescetarian. I have been on a "whole foods" plan since November, 2018. I eat 1 ingredient foods. I haven't eaten meat in 5 years. I no longer eat white flour, eggs or dairy. Watch the movie "Forks Over Knives" on Netflix or Amazon Prime for more info.

My favorite quotes...

Thanks for the site and for always cheering me on. If it weren't for Spark People, I wouldn't see anyone unless I went to church or to the nursing home. I don't get lonely because of chores and using my computer to look at things, but when hubby throws a tantrum, I feel confined and will often binge.

The victory is still fresh in my mind, that the last time he got in one of his moods, I took Princess and went for a walk and let him stew instead of turning to food.

    I appreciate your friendship.

Yes, it was the Yoplait fat free apple turnover yogurt. I bought 8 of orange creme, but it was another type of orange that was like eating a Dreamsicle. I don't know if it was whipped or what it was. By keeping a list, I will have the exact one I want. When I get a good list, I will post it. I know of some here that are more obese than I am and I am trying to help them to stay the course and hitting on key tastes like that is important.

I bought some frozen vegetables. I got fresh carrots too, but there is a produce market within walking distance and I am trying to get hubby to give me some cash to go there.

We paid the first chimney sweep and I knew if I reported him, he would probably know it was me, so I didn't.

I got a reference on the second guy from my sister. His Dad cleaned their chimney until he quit due to cancer.

Yes, we have our chimney and stove checked every year. My friend that had the fire, has hers checked too. I would question whether her chimney sweep is honest.

We had one chimney sweep come here and I heard him get a ladder off his truck, but I never saw him at the chimney and he didn't carry any light or mirrors to look down the chimney. He came in and told me I needed a new stove and that things were broken. The other guy said that was not true. The first guy tries to get people to think things are not right so they will buy new wood stoves from him.

We had most of the pipes from the stove into the chimney replaced this year. Our chimney sweep takes them apart every time and they were rusted out where they joined together. I do trust him and called him after the other guy said we needed a new stove. He said most of his customers called him because of the other guy trying to defraud them.

Thank you for the candles goodie. My Mom and Dad got married on the shortest day and longest night of the year, lol.

We haven't gone shopping yet. I am trying to focus on other things rather than food. I am not sleeping well or long enough.

I took Princess for a long walk, she has been good lately, but when she doesn't get any exercise, she gets into trouble by chasing the cat, getting into the trash can, chewing up things and running away if she gets a chance. I needed to get out of the house away from the stubbornness of my husband. I have learned to ignore him when he does his "I won't eat because I am upset" moods. I don't need the drama.
