I am in my ninth year of living a healthy life style!!
I am celebrating my eighth Sparkversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2020. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

I started off with walking. If you would have told me years before that I would run a 5k, I would have never believed it!

As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people!

Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son five years ago to Anorexia Nervosa. I am still in the grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me.

I am a pescetarian. I have been on a "whole foods" plan since November, 2018. I eat 1 ingredient foods. I haven't eaten meat in 5 years. I no longer eat white flour, eggs or dairy. Watch the movie "Forks Over Knives" on Netflix or Amazon Prime for more info.

My favorite quotes...

Thank you for swinging by my page to visit! I, unfortunately, do not have funds to travel right now. I would love to run at least 1 5k or something, even though I despise running.

I am so thrilled to hear your good news! Thank you for letting me know!
I've been really inspired at how you've handled yourself (at least in this online community) through all the stresses you've been through.

I think I may have run about 7 miles once in my life. I used to visit and old homestead where there was just a few stones marking the foundation of an old house. I had a blind German Shepherd and she was going on ahead of me. A man with a gun was there and I hollered for him not to shoot my dog because she was blind. He said he was out shooting foxes.

I ran all the way home that day. I used to run wherever I went, but that changed as I gained weight. I set a few school records for speed, but we didn't have a track team back then and I didn't know there were any records. We did the 50-yard dash and 600-yard run/walk for the President's Physical Fitness campaign.

We thought of that after we got in the car. I will next time I see him. Good thinking :) Josh is just worried that guys like that who don't care if someone see's them doing that will be more likely to follow a woman out after she's done with her workout.
