NOTE: I have moved my personal reflections to This is because of the inability to create categories for posts here, or archive by month etc; so all you'll get from me here are ramblings about how fat I still am!!

Hey there, nice to meet you! I'm Kate from Kuwait, and I'm a sailor and a diver. Sometimes I'm also a primary school teacher, but I'm having time out now...

This blog is intended to be a place where I capture moments of my life, and some of my thoughts! Although I joined SP in 2007, I only started writing this blog when I started doing my Master's Degree in e-learning in AUtumn 2010.

Last year I had a bad accident. That cost me 4 days in ICU, three weeks on the ward, and a further three weeks confined to bed. Then I had to have my kidney removed. That cost another few weeks in bed. Then, when I got home from work every day, I'd fall straight asleep, till hubby woke me at 7pm for my dinner. So, no teaching for a while, I'll just concentrate on self-improvement. And that includes getting rid of the excess weight I gained last year!

You asked about low-calorie dairy in one of the team's posts. A cup of skim or 1% milk delivers only about 100 calories, and provides a good amount of calcium, plus it can help fill you up as well:) And research has shown increased milk consumption actually helps people with weight loss. Low-fat cottage cheese gives calcium and protein - a dynamic duo! Hope this helps:)

You commented on my page agreeing about my take on "real" food -- I'm glad I'm not the only one...I'm reading "In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollan right now (the guy who wrote The Omnivore's Dilemma) what a great read and makes me feel validated!!! Cheers and best wishes towards your goals!
