I have been living as if I have infinite tomorrows to become my best self. I think, I ponder, I stew, I plan, I try, but I don't actively, tenaciously, and spiritedly devote myself to peeling away the layers of fear, regret, and pounds that keep me stuck in a version of myself that is less than I can be. This isn't about weight loss; it's about dealing with life on life's terms and enjoying the hell out of it!

Fitness Minutes: 711

My Goals:
December 2010
1. Log into SP every day and record food and exercise
2. Participate in SP (make friends, post comments, blog, JOIN IN)
3. Eat at least one vegetable a day.
4. Keep all of my personal training appointments with Daniel.
5. Walk on the treadmill up to 15% incline at least 3x/week for at least 30 minutes.
6. Do an activity for fun at least 1x/week (kayak, bicycle, hike, long walk on beach)
7. Reward myself!



My Program:
 December - I'm keeping what I wrote in November:
I'm working on developing new habits and obliterating old ones. I'm writing down everything I eat. In the process, I'm learning a lot and really seeing how out of control my eating has been. I'm focusing on exercise - I am committing financially to two personal training sessions a week. I am making a commitment to cardio sessions of 45 minutes 3x a week. Right now, cardio for me is walking fast and doing uphills on the treadmill. I recognize that my current weight creates limitations. However, these will change as my body changes.


Personal Information:
I'm a native Montanan who currently lives in San Diego, CA. I've also lived in Cheyenne, WY, Spokane, WA, Chicago, and the Twin Cities. Chicago is the best city in the world. I love four seasons, but have fallen in love with San Diego. I'm a daughter, sister, mother, ex-wife, and lawyer. I love to read all kinds of things (ranging from magazines, fiction, nonfiction & blogs), listen to music, bicycle, hang with my kids and friends, drink good coffee, and walk on the beach.

    Hey there, Sharon...

    I became overwhelmed with the holidays and then went to Egypt. Just got back and am trying to get back into the swing of things.

    I hope that you are continuing to do good things for yourself. As for me, it's one day at a time. My mobility issues have gotten worse, and I've had quite a wake-up call. Leaving my comfort zone for a few weeks was really good for me, even though it was physically trying. I hope you get a few moments respite from your own responsibilities. When you get a chance, let me know how you're doing. Read Mary Oliver's poem on The Sun for a pick-me-up.

    OMG right back at you! I have never heard David Whyte read his poetry. I can't wait to get a copy of that cd. You bet, I'll send you a copy of my reflections.

    Well, I confess that I had a Hershey's kiss meltdown last night. Six of them with some coconut and walnuts went into the microwave and then into me. I don't usually get the night demons that bad, but for some reason last night was horrible. I don't know what it is about night time (sweet darkness?), but it comes over me like a tidal wave sometimes. I scavenge the house for any left over kiddie stuff. Then, when I'm in my daughter's house, it's really hard. I usually stick to popcorn, but the Halloween candy still has some remnants. Argggghhhh! It's like my bad angel puts duct tape over the mouth of my good angel and says, "Go for it!" Anyway, today is a NEW day, and I am going to try very hard to make good choices. I pray the same for you, too!

    Hi, again! Just read all your blogs and subscribed. Glad they're short, because they're addicting - love the honesty and humor. I am such an addictive personality...I joined Spark People to shake off one addiction, and now I am addicted to reading people's blogs, etc. There are some really good writers and cool people, and I can meet them all in my jammies!

    Just wanted to let you know, I live in Chicagoland...Crystal Lake now, formerly Schaumburg. It is in the teens today, and I like winter, but I've always heard San Diego has PERFECT weather, so I'm jealous. You know how few days with sunshine we have in winter, and from your screen name, I'm guessing that you enjoy the sunnier winters down there. Okay, gotta go do some WORK!!!

    Hi! Thanks for your nice comments on my Spark Page. Are you a photographer? I wondered if you took the nature pictures on your page...so lovely. I have to admit I was delighted by your update about the chocolate in the car...not that you succumbed, but that you were so up front about it! If I had a dollar for every time I've done that...oh, I'd probably blow it all on something I don't need! But, anyway, I used to actually drive around looking for a dumpster so I could hide the evidence before going home. That's why your openness was so refreshing to me.
