I signed onto sparkpeople to help me hold myself accountable and to meet people who struggle with health and fitness. I am 54 years old with two kids a daughter who is 25, and my son who is 12. I moved to Washington about a 1.5 yrs ago. Not sure where the time goes. I have been working on rebuilding my life and at this point it is time to focus on my health and fitness. Something always falls to the waist side and in this case too much has fallen on my waist side. I have done so many diets only to gain it all back. But I got to say I did get a taste of what I felt like when I lost 60 lbs on Atkins. It felt amazing. So much lighter. I wish I could say that I still am down 60 lbs but that is a lie. I think I gained it back and then some. The thing was I did limit carbs but still ate crappy foods. I took it at bring on the bacon. It did work but I did not learn healthy eating. This time around I really want to change my lifestyle and reach for healthier food and take my time to lose it for good. I know that I am older and things take a bit longer to shed. I am ok with that as long as I keep shedding the pounds. I truly am tired of carrying this weight around. My knee hurts so much because of it. I do have osteoarthritis as well as a meniscus tear in my knee. And when I lost the weight it did not hurt as much. If I go back to the doctors they will just say lose the weight before they even attempt to fix the tear. Frustrating. All I know is that I am tiring of hiding behind this weight. For me this weight has been a shield protecting me from so much in my past but now it is time to let it go. My ugly past is gone and I do see a brighter future as long as I keep fighting the fight. So many reasons I am doing this, but first and foremost it is for me. I want to be here for years to come and I want my kids to know that you should never give up fighting. Its been a long road so far but that is ok because I am on the road to my self discovery. And for that I have to give myself some credit right. We all fight something and what I have been reading here on Sparkpeople is we don't have to do it alone. That is what I need. I do share my journey on my blog if you want to know a little bit more about me. It helps me.

The Biggest Loser Challenge is looking for members for it’s next Challenge starting the first week of June. The challenge consists of 11 Teams, that participate in 10 weeks of Nutritional and Fitness Challenges. These challenges can be modified to fit individual needs, allowing members of all abilities and dietary needs to participate.

Here are some of the members comments written on a Survey Monkey poll:

“It helps me stay focused on my goals. It also keeps things interesting and not boring.”

“I find that the challenges make me be more cognizant of my food intake, better choices etc. The fitness ones encourage me to try new exercises and to keep doing exercises. I think there is a good possibility I wouldnt do as much if I didnt track it for challenges or tried to do better on challenges”

“My leaders are all wonderful...they stay in touch with team members and do their best to keep us involved and feeling a part of the team.”

“They motivate me to eat healthier and to be more active. “

I added you as a friend after leaving a long not on your blog. Hope this nasty bug leaves your system but believe me it has been 3 weeks for me and I still have a bit of a cough at week 4. UGH! My sisters kids live in Washington, I actually thought I would move there but ended up in Chicago area 18 years ago and now I'm pretty much tied here. I do love it though so it's all good. Keep in touch and feel better.
