That's great your interview went well! I definitely know what you mean about feeling a certain way about how the interview went, but never really knowing what direction the interviewers will take. It's so taxing.

I've never done spinning before, but I really want too. I've heard it's intense as well. I'm actually more hesitant about other group fitness classes - those that involve having to have rhythm! I'm horrible with any exercise that involves any kind of dance. I took a step class a couple times in college and I was all over the place!

Max does that too - saying hi to people first and other dogs last! How funny! Max loves dachshunds. Isn't it weird how the dogs seem to prefer the company of certain size dogs and then even certain breeds? I really never tell any other dogs owners that because the few times I have, I've had a couple weird looks! Maybe it's a border collie thing with the breed being so smart, they're actually more aware about the type of dogs they enjoy being around.

I love cake decorating and cooking/baking. Love being in the kitchen! I started taking Wilton cake decorating classes this past January, but stopped because the instructor was so boring and I realized that I learn best as I go. I've completely self-taught myself with all the cooking and baking skills I have and it's no different with cake decorating. My grandmother is turning 80 at the end of next month and my family is throwing a party for her. I volunteered to do the cake, but I've yet to decide on anything. I guess I better start thinking more about that! What about you?

I almost joined the new Gold's Gym, but decided the new rec center would be most cost effective for an out of work teacher - ha! The only bummer is that the rec center doesn't offer all the same group fitness class as Gold's Gym does - spinning in particular. Oh well!

Wow! Hired three days before the start of school? Talk about having to think on your feet!

What does your husband teach? Is he a coach as well? I can't get over the name of the new high school - Vandegrift. It sounds so hoity toity, which is far from the little Leander I grew up in! That's awesome that you were able have an interview with LISD HR and even more awesome that by chance, you met a principal at a church y'all were visiting! I hope your interview goes well!

I've sent out countless cover letters/resumes to principals and that's how I've received my interviews - two with two different charter schools and one with Eanes ISD.

I typically take Max for walks in the late evening, but there have been some early morning walks lately. We'll go to a park every once in a while. Max is super playful, but he REALLY likes to play with little dogs more than dogs his size. And he really doesn't like dogs bigger than he is! When I take him to a park, he just wants to sniff and sniff, but will eventually focus enough to notice the other dogs! He basically likes to sniff and play rough - no balls or frisbees. He turned five this month...he's not my little puppy anymore! :( How old is yours?

I started running outside for the convenience and scenery. I didn't want to be stuck inside running on a treadmill when there are so many beautiful trails to run. Cedar Park just opened a recreation center so I'm now stuck inside on a treadmill for a while. :\ This heat is just too hard for me to run all my runs in. Once a week is fine, but not four or five. Anyhow, I really suggest doing the C25K program. I don't think I've ever heard anyone that has stuck with the entire program ever being disappointed.

This past year was my first year teaching. I taught in Killeen ISD (just an hour north) for the fall semester (pre-k for a bit and then transferred to teach third grade...reassigned after low enrollment in pre-k :( ) and then subbed for Leander ISD and Round Rock ISD for the spring semester. I'm hoping for any grade from pre-k to second grade. Pre-k or kinder would be ideal.

A lot of the districts are in a hiring freeze because of all their budget problems. Ugh. It is so frustrating. I hope that if I can't find a full time teaching position, I can find a teaching assistant position so I can have more of a steady job and hopefully be able to get my foot in the door more so than with subbing. I've had three interviews so far, but no luck. What about you?

Cedar Park has yet to build a dog park, but Brushy Creek Lake Park is the best park to take a dog to otherwise. It's not an official dog park, but dogs are welcome and plenty of people let their dogs off leash even though off leash is prohibited. Nobody will fuss unless your dog is unruly. There are also about 6.5 miles of trails and a lake for kayaking and fishing. It's a gorgeous park. Just over in Georgetown, there's a fenced dog park, which is huge, but there aren't a lot of trees so no shade. In Round Rock, there's also a fenced dog park with a little dog agility course. And then just in north Austin, off 360 and Lakewood, there's Bull Creek District Park, which is like dog heaven. It's an off leash dog park that's not fenced. There's a creek, which is usually very shallow, for the dogs to run around in. The dog park is in a green belt so it's absolutely gorgeous. There was just recently a sewer spillage that drained into the creek so people are being encouraged to not spend too much time in the creek area of the park. I can only imagine the entire park stinks though. Yuck!

I'm actually looking for a full time teaching position in the area right now and anxiously awaiting for the hiring season to pick up a bit more speed now that the school year is oh so close. What about you?

I didn't start running until this past January and I quickly fell in love with it. I trained myself to be able to run with a program called C25K (Couch to 5K), which takes 9 weeks and consists of walking and running intervals. It worked like a charm for me and before I knew it, I was able to run much longer than 5K.

Ultras are extreme. How long has your husband been a runner?

Hi! I stumbled across your SparkPage and saw that we have a bunch in common! I also live in CP, I'm a teacher, I have a border collie, and I like cake decorating (and all things cooking and baking related!)! Too funny!
