Welcome to our place! Relax with us by the pool and watch the puppies romp. Come take a walk with me at sunrise and sunset--the sky here goes on forever! No wonder they decorate with pink and blue in Florida--that's the color of the vast cloud mounds in the sky, where the lightning plays at any time of day. You never know what might be going on around here, but good food, friends, characters, physical activity, and my thoughts, goals, and interests of the moment are going to be part of it.

My Goals:
When I first joined SparkPeople 14 years ago, I think, I'd seen my weight creeping up and decided that I needed to be more aware of what I was eating and how much I was exercising.

Well, it just happened again!

Having a weekly restaurant news column in the local paper is NOT a great method of self-control.

Note to self: It's never okay to just eat and drink whatever you damn please!

My Program:
Make sure to eat at least SOME breakfast every day, for a kick-start!

Walk a total of 5 miles, 10,000 steps, a day.

Eat only when hungry and stop when full. (This is NOT easy, by the way.)

Do daily pilates-type exercises to keep my hips and back limber.

Upper-body weight training every other day.

Personal Information:
71, with an emotional age of about 36

5'7"

Went from 172 in February 2005 to a low of 111 several summers ago (much too low for me)

Now aiming to keep off a recently re-lost 20 pounds, mainly to fit into more of my clothes and have a flatter tummy.

This, too, isn't always easy, because of the abovementioned newspaper gig and Bill's great cooking.

Other Information:
My passions lately are writing and getting to be expert in the local restaurant scene. Retirement is proving far busier than full-time employment, if less lucrative.

So glad to hear from you. We are sheltering in place here. Our governor got on it early and decided that Trump was going to belly flop so he set about making a plan and carrying it out. Benny and I live like old hermits anyway so it wasn't a huge change for me. I am a pandemic-phobe and have been since my grandma told me about losing her little brother and little sister in 1918 from the Spanish flu. A few years later her mom, who was a nurse, died when she contracted a communicable disease from a patient. And grandma and her 8 remaining siblings, the youngest 6 months old became orphans at that time. So I have been "corona ready" all my life. I started monitoring this bug last December. I have been receiving the CDC's newsletter for years. Benny's boss is trying to find a way to ignore the order that only necessary businesses remain open. Most of the employees are young and dumb. The 3 older intelligent employees, including hubby, said so long and left. He has only been off 2 days and they have driven us nuts with calls. Today they informed him that they had a light bulb out. OMG!! These people are a-holes and I am ready to unload on them.

Hunker down there. GF. Florida is getting ready to get hit hard. Hugs.

All that's left is DD and we know that is the biggest burden out there. Sigh.
