Welcome to our place! Relax with us by the pool and watch the puppies romp. Come take a walk with me at sunrise and sunset--the sky here goes on forever! No wonder they decorate with pink and blue in Florida--that's the color of the vast cloud mounds in the sky, where the lightning plays at any time of day. You never know what might be going on around here, but good food, friends, characters, physical activity, and my thoughts, goals, and interests of the moment are going to be part of it.

My Goals:
When I first joined SparkPeople 14 years ago, I think, I'd seen my weight creeping up and decided that I needed to be more aware of what I was eating and how much I was exercising.

Well, it just happened again!

Having a weekly restaurant news column in the local paper is NOT a great method of self-control.

Note to self: It's never okay to just eat and drink whatever you damn please!

My Program:
Make sure to eat at least SOME breakfast every day, for a kick-start!

Walk a total of 5 miles, 10,000 steps, a day.

Eat only when hungry and stop when full. (This is NOT easy, by the way.)

Do daily pilates-type exercises to keep my hips and back limber.

Upper-body weight training every other day.

Personal Information:
71, with an emotional age of about 36

5'7"

Went from 172 in February 2005 to a low of 111 several summers ago (much too low for me)

Now aiming to keep off a recently re-lost 20 pounds, mainly to fit into more of my clothes and have a flatter tummy.

This, too, isn't always easy, because of the abovementioned newspaper gig and Bill's great cooking.

Other Information:
My passions lately are writing and getting to be expert in the local restaurant scene. Retirement is proving far busier than full-time employment, if less lucrative.

Actually I was on a job hunting trip on the Gulf Coast in the later 1980s and we covered a large area. I don't remember the name of the place but it wasn't either of those. We started in Pensacola and ended up in Ft. Myers as we had family in both places but also stayed in other areas. The best accommodations were in St. Petersburg but I don't recall much more than that. I loved a restaurant called Captain Andersons - maybe in Panama City or nearby?? And a Greek place in Tarpon Springs called Pappas or something like that. Too long ago and I'm sure it is all gone now just like here.

Things have not been that great here in 2020 but we are still chugging along, My sickness in February (md says covid) left me with some cognitive problems and then I fell and hubby, who was out of work, started bleeding and we had the biopsy on Thursday under general and he won't know until the 23rd so we are talking and planning and I have improved a lot, things will work out.
