This is from a 2008 photoshoot for my ballet company. It ended up on the cover of a magazine!

I'm Natalie! I'm a big fan of mindful eating, ballet, and stretching in front of the tv. Stretching whenever possible. Also sometimes jumping. Just because.

I can be awkward or inappropriate in online and offline social interactions. Please know that I am autistic, and while social interactions go wrong for me pretty often, I mean no offense. If I've said something offensive or inappropriate, please tell my privately! I will almost always apologize profusely and do my best to correct for my mistake, but if I'm called out publicly I tend to spiral into a bad place.

Anyone else hate how usernames are in all caps? Seems inappropriate.

My Goals:
1. Keep working through recovery from anorexia, first and foremost above any other goals. Always.

2. Lose ~10 pounds to feel more confident in the ballet studio, so that I can focus on my movement instead of my weight.

3. Find a middle ground between overexercise and no exercise. Develop fitness habits to support a healthy weight whether I choose to dance or not.

My Program:
I love ballet, but had to quit a few years ago due to an eating disorder. Now that I'm in recovery, I'm dancing again and loving it, but I'm a few pounds more than feels comfortable. I don't have a lot of weight to lose. Instead, I'm trying to build healthy habits like taking class regularly and introducing some variety of exercise for when ballet is not a good option.

Personal Information:
Chicago! Academia! Cats! Knitting! Ballet! Linguistics! American Sign Language! Boyfriend! Autistic Acceptance and Advocacy! David Foster Wallace! Netflix!

Other Information:
Being in recovery, it's very important for me to approach weight in a very moderate way. That means tracking what I eat, but not being a stickler about it. It also means avoiding "fitspiration" that means well and certainly can be helpful to some people in the moment, but really just puts a stamp of approval on a new brand of eating disorder.
