It has been over nine years that I stopped smoking, and decided to work on my excess weight.

I have been very successful with the no smoking part, but not so much with the losing weight... I keep losing, then gaining back. And the cycle starts again.

It is time now to re-evaluate what I am doing wrong. I think I stay on a diet that is too restrictive, and when I allow myself a little "break", this turns into several months of over eating.

Raising a handicapped son all by my myself is stressful, but I tend to use this as an excuse to over eat.

I have severe arthritis and it is urgent for me to lose weight.

So, let's pick up the momentum and see what we can do to get back on track, shall we?

Rewarding myself - all new, starting in 2017-

-50 pounds:

My Program:
- Eat balanced meals, not too restrictive calorie-wise.
- Watch my afternoon snacks
- Increase my vegetable and fruit consumption.
- Exercise every day, even if this is only 10 minutes a day. I need to keep moving because of arthritis that is getting worse when I am inactive. My new Fitbit will help with this.

Personal Information:
I am originally from France, but now live in Virginia. We go every year on vacation on Lake Superior (in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan) and we love it there!

Other Information:
I recently joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and it has brought wonderful changes in my life.
I love to read (theology and history books) and I listen to classical music (J.S. Bach is my favorite composer).

I just got back from yoga. There are certainly things that I can't (or maybe just won't) do but with the extra pad under my knees I'm good on my hands and knees. I tend to shy away from the true kneeling poses but right now it's more about my knee that hasn't been replaced.

My best advice is to keep doing the exercises. When my husband was sick this spring I got pretty lazy about doing mine and I can really tell. I need to take my own advice!!!

    Have a lovely weekend.

The weight loss was a happy side effect. When I was still on the medication, food just didn't appeal to me. Maybe I should start taking them again!!! emoticon

I think it was closer to 3 months before the scar stopped bothering me. It didn't stop me from doing much except kneeling. People told me I wouldn't be able to be on my knees every again but I haven't found that to be true. I have to be careful and I have a knee mat that I use for yoga but there are still a lot of things that I can do! More than I expected.

emoticon Attention! It’s finally Friday, and the beginning of a 3 day weekend to celebrate our veterans on Veterans Day. We don’t want any good jokes MIA (Missing In Action) so fall in and march on in and take a seat. Make yourself at ease, and get ready to have some giggles with a few military jokes illustrating humor in uniform. emoticon

A major was assigned to his new office on a military base. While he was setting up his office, a private knocked on the door. The major quickly picked up the phone, and motioned for the private to enter.

On the phone the major said, "Yes sir, General, I think that is an excellent idea. . . . No sir, that's fine, feel free to call me any time. I'm glad I can help sir. . . . Yes sir, I will, and please give my best to your family as well. Thank you sir, and a good day to you too, General!"

As the major hung up the phone he turned to the private and asked, "What can I do for you, private?"

Sheepishly, the private mumbled, "Um, sir . . . I'm just here to hook up your phone, sir."
