It has been over ten years that I stopped smoking, and decided to work on my excess weight.

I have been very successful with the no smoking part, but not so much with the losing weight... I keep losing, then gaining back. And the cycle starts again.

It is time now to re-evaluate what I am doing wrong. I think I stay on a diet that is too restrictive, and when I allow myself a little "break", this turns into several months of over eating.

Raising a handicapped son all by my myself is stressful, but I tend to use this as an excuse to over eat.

I have severe arthritis and it is urgent for me to lose weight.

So, let's pick up the momentum and see what we can do to get back on track, shall we?

-50 pounds:

My Program:
- Eat balanced meals, not too restrictive calorie-wise.
- Reduce my carbs.
- Watch my afternoon snacks
- Increase my vegetable and fruit consumption.
- Exercise every day, even if this is only 10 minutes a day. I need to keep moving because of arthritis that is getting worse when I am inactive. My Apple watch will help with this.

Personal Information:
I am originally from France, but now live in Virginia. We go every year on vacation on Lake Superior (in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan) and we love it there!

Other Information:
I recently joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and it has brought wonderful changes in my life.
I love to read (theology and history books) and I listen to classical music (J.S. Bach is my favorite composer).

Thanks for commenting on my blog - yes, two grandbabies is pretty darn wonderful. I just wish I could visit them but that time will come eventually! How are you doing. I was just thinking about you. I pretty much dropped off the planet for awhile, can't remember being so sick in a very long time but thankfully I'm so much better now. Hope you are healing and getting back to your routines, even in these uncertain times.

Top o’ the mornin’ to ye! It’s the Friday before St Patrick’s Day so let’s have a wee bit o’ Irish humor to start off the weekend right!

An Irish priest is driving down to New York and gets stopped for speeding.
The state trooper smells alcohol on the priest’s breath and then sees an empty wine bottle on the floor of the car.
He says, “Father, have you been drinking?”
    “Just water,” says the priest.
The trooper looks him in the eye and says, “Then why do I smell wine?”
The priest looks down at the bottle and says, “Good Lord! He’s done it again!”

Gallagher opened the morning newspaper and was dumbfounded to read in the obituary column that he had died. He quickly phoned his best friend Finney.
“Did you see the paper?!” asked Gallagher. “They say I died!!”
“Yes, I saw it!” replied Finney. “So where are ye callin’ from?”

Why does it take five Irishmen to change a lightbulb?
One to change the bulb. Four to remark about how grand the old bulb was.

How can you tell if an Irishman is having a good time?
    He's Dublin over with laughter!

Why are so many leprechauns florists?
    They have green thumbs!

How is a good friend like a four-leaf clover?
    They’re hard to find!

I am so glad I found you here on Spark People!!! Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Veronique. I hope you are feeling a bit better this morning. I know many people who are or were in your position with replacement surgery. My sister had both. She is thriving with new knees. I hear also that the better you follow the after surgery plan the better results you will have. I believe it. I need to lose more weight before I can have new knees and a hip. It's my goal. Hang in there and do the work. You'll do fine!
    Hugs
