Well ...

I first joined SparkPeople in 2008, quit and rejoined many times and finally gave up. I just could not make myself follow ANY program for more than a couple of weeks, and I tried them all, including not having a program. I have been a dieting failure, life change failure and non-dieting failure. I just haven't been able to convince myself that the pain of denying my hunger is worth the result. Yet, I also have been unable to convince myself that just letting myself go is fine. My dream is to become a normal eater and to find the balance within myself that will cause that to happen. It's not just about the food and exercise but about acceptance, love and healing the emotions underlying the whole process.

In 2020, I plan to do things a little differently. I'm returning to a model that eliminates sugar, diet soda and encourages eating food that I like that adds to my health. No dieting but rather a sensible way of eating that adds to my health and well being.

My Goals:
Heal my body, mind and spirit. Quit restricting and bingeing. Eat when hungry, choose foods based on my taste preferences and quit when satisfied.


My Program:
Healthy foods eaten in order to promote health and well being. No snacks, sweets or soda except on special occasions. Gentle exercise to enhance my body's ability to move and enjoy life. Meditation and prayer to remember the source of my well being. Reaching out to others when I can.



Personal Information:
Married, no children, one dog. Retired. Used to be: personnel director, psychotherapist, legal secretary/assistant and in that order! Considered downwardly mobile by some, but very happy by all.


Other Information:
I say I'm an older woman with enough education to know how little I know but not enough to stop pretending I know something.
