Introduction Text May 2012 I'm back at the gym and working out, but still struggling with my food. Luckily each day is a new opportunity for success. Am down just 5 lbs, but it's better than being up. I want to be back where I was 2 summers ago ... it's frustrating to have gained back after working so hard to lose. But "start from where you are" is a quote from a wonderful woman I knew, and keep that in mind whenever I get discouraged. January 2012 Time to find my way back to good health and a weight I'm comfortable with... a lot of changes in personal life and a gain of 60 lbs over 18 or so months... On the good side, I'm still down 43 lbs from where I started more than 5 years ago... but little slips turn into large gains for me ... and time to put that to a halt, put me and my health first again so I'm happy with my body. Good luck to all who keep getting up and trying every day to live a life with fewer pounds weighing them down. May 2009 I'm about 43 lbs away from hitting my goal, having now lost 92 lbs. For the first time in more than a dozen years, I'm out of the 200's and into ONEderland. I love being a size 16 and shopping just about everywhere I want. But I'm not done yet! I'm going to lose the additional weight by my 35th birthday this fall. And I cannot wait to hit that goal and maintain it. People have asked what's the secret, how have I done it? I have done it with the support of friends and family, with my Spark posse, and a great trainer at my gym. But really, the secret, the one thing... it's making a decision every single day to choose health. It's just as simple and as complicated as that. You are either choosing for yourself, or against yourself. The feeling of choosing yourself cannot be compared, it's a feeling like none other. It's love. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ It's time to for the scale to start moving again... I have learned to maintain, however I still have weight that I want to lose... so it's back to the basics, 300 calories meals, 5 times a day... gym 5 days a week, hiking on Saturday. It's easy to get frustrated when things are standing still... but by looking back and realizing how far I've come, I'm finding the strength and excitement about this next phase of my journey. I look at the picture of me at my heaviest and remember how uncomfortable I felt all the time.... losing my breath walking up the stairs, barely able to bend over and paint my own toes. Then I look at my 'almost 1/2 way there' picture and think, holy cow! I climbed up ropes and went through obstacles on a Zip Line course in St. Martin. I did that!! I can jog a slow mile without stopping. I can bend and move and run upstairs with no problems. I can work out for an hour and then hike with my dogs. I am getting there... and I will hit my goal in 2008. ** It's not the length of your life, but its depth, and its width. **

To get back to where I was 2 summers ago - argh!

Choosing whole, unprocessed foods as often as possible... drinking at least 64 oz water/day... cardio and strength training to increase lean muscle and burn fat and calories. Oh, and track my food intake on Spark of course! Cardio 4x's a week Weights 3 x's a week.
