Hi, Thanks for visiting my page. I live near Calgary, Alberta Canada on a small ranch where we have cattle, a feral cat and several thoroughbred horses that are on a race track all summer. The cat has it best though, all she needs to do is keep the mouse population down and if she feels lazy she doesn't even have to do that cause she has a self feeder and waterer!!! .
Gardening, playing computer games and oh yes reading are some of my favorite things to do. Love the outdoors and my house sure looks like it in summer!!! Life is grand.

I am horribly addicted to sugar. Once I start eating that demon food I just can't seem to quit so my weight yo yos like crazy. If only I would stay away from them I know my weight would remain more constant, I would feel better, have more energy and beat the depression that sets in when I go on one of my many binges. Does anyone see a pattern here? Sugar, depression, emotional eating, sugar . . . . . and round and round it goes.

June, 2020. We remain ever vigilant due to Covid 19. I am in a depressed state of mind, probably because of the isolation plus DH's health continues on the decline because of Diabetes and all it's side effects, including kidney disease which is being closely monitored as his function is now down to 10% (which is up from last month's 8%) My weight has gone up since the Spring Challenge but I'm back for the Summer Challenge after having done the In between Challenge - well sort of!!

My Goals:
Lose 5% on the Summer Challenge.
Set up a Daily Plan and stick with it through the Summer Challenge.
Sweets which I deem to be confectionary, starchy carbs ie cake, cookies etc shall be considered a treat, not something to be eaten every day
Exercise at least 3x a week which should be easier now that the gym is Covid open!!
Think positive thoughts


My Program:
Need to get back to walking.
Gym trying for 3x a week cardio Stretch, balance & Flexibility exercises Like the fun of exercise classes



Personal Information:
Born in Manitoba, 1948 and moved to Alberta in 1969. Married first time in 1970, 2 children, lost my daughter in 1999, she was 26. Married second time in 1992. together we have 5 children and 13 grandchildren. My mom had alzheimers (passed April 16/16) I am always looking for information on how to keep "Alzy" off my doorstep.

Anything else you would like to tell people. Could include things like your favorite books or movies, a quote, anything.

I make wine, have done so for years but shall not drink any throughout the Summer Challenge

Have a healthy fear of water. Am a homebody but do enjoy short vacations.

    Verna, thank you for reading and commenting on my blog the other day about being depressed. I am sorry you're feeling the same way. I feel a little better since I wrote that, but the arthritis ain't getting any better. The good thing is that the pain level has made me vow to seek treatment (and I MUST lose weight to reduce the load on my joints). This is a pretty clear message from God.

    It's hard to stay upbeat in these disturbing, uncertain times. I hope your business hasn't been negatively affected by all this. Is your part of the world still the same? Well, I guess our world won't be exactly as it was before, but I do hope we can get to a point where there's more certainty. My teaching job is slightly picking up, so I'm not drifting quite as much as I was a few weeks ago. A little structure helps.

    Anyway, I just hope you are doing okay, that your husband is feeling all right, too, and that you're not too overwhelmed by caretaking or anything else. Take care, my friend.
