Hi

I'm adding/changing my page constantly it seems!

I was always skinny as a kid--classmates called me "Olive Oyl" because I was so thin and had such big feet...still have the big feet and the frizzy hair--try not to do the high pitched voice thing!

Gained 60 lbs w/ my first pregnancy and only about 25 w/ my second but that all came off. My problem seems to be that I exercised less as I aged and then we started to do an evening of cards w/ food and beer about 1-2 times a month...that plus my less exercise started to add up. I'm also 40 now and wonder how much my metabolism has slowed down. Doesn't help that once I decided I needed to lose 15 lbs or so for a reunion and did it too fast and of course didn't keep it off, so I gained a little more to go with it...

I decided though, that I have to get my weight under control because I do want to be physically strong as I age. My mother's side of the family tend to weigh in very heavy (300 isn't out of line) . Granted, I seem to take after my father's side but ....

I live in the southeast corner of South Dakota. I love to read, garden (like my flowers more so than veggies) and enjoy visiting with friends over a friendly game of cards.

I didn't want to add a lot about my family...I'm married, have 2 kids and homeschool one with "special needs"

Every time I log in I seem to find even more cool teams out there...I keep browsing them all...Wow! I have taken myself off a couple already too though. I garden a lot (and am pretty experienced) but decided not to join that team since it seems to be a lot of people w/ beginner questions. That said, if you have gardening questions (zone 3-4) or want to know about heirloom roses, shoot me an email and I'll try to help.

Fitness Minutes: 3,137

My Goals:
I hope to track my calories better as well as motivate myself by tracking my exercise as well (hopefully that will make me more diligent about doing exercise too!)


My Program:
A minimum of 90 mins per week doing cardio and strength training at least 2 days a week.

I did a little equation I found on one of the forums here...
hips + thigh (1)- calf (both)-wrist = % Body Fat

Weight x BF = Fat #s
Weight -fat #s = Lean Body Mass
LBM -/- (divided by) .78= Ideal Body Weight (for women over 30)....

I liked it that my ideal body weight was an obtainable goal for me (easily--I figured it would be way lower) but that said, I don't really like carrying around as much "fat" as it said I did. That needs to change. Hence, more weight training.

    Hi Wendy Girl, Thank you so much for the goodie. I have really beefed it up. I am sick of this weight hanging around and besides it helps my joints and old lady bones :-) I have been walking 6-7 days a week and try and do it twice a day. Besides I am so loving being on the gulf of Mexico, instead of cold Minnesota. I miss home, but the beaches here just keep calling to me to get out on them. It is good exercise for my little miss too and the rowdy dog.
