Introduction Text I joined Sparkpeople in Late October of 2008, and achieved my original weight goal of 139 on February 18, 2009. That date still sticks in my mind . It was the first time in more than 20 years that I achieved "under 140"; a cholesterol test at that time with a result of 182 as opposed to 225 just 4 months previous, confirmed I was on the right track. I can only attribute these achievements to the motivation and encouragement thru sparkpeople cuz I certainly didn't do it until THEN!! Then along about December 2011 and I'm kind of chubby again after a year and a half dealing with some health issues for my husband....I held it together pretty well through that during 2010, but then when I took over my Dad's 9 rentals (management and bookkeeping) I suddenly found myself sitting a lot and working on paperwork, sometimes long into the night to get years of bookkeeping up to date. I must have coupled that with stuffing my face as well, because all of a sudden here I am, back; chubby again but not as heavy as I was when I began Sparkpeople. This time, with the increased workload of 9 rentals to manage, along with a full time job, and a farm to run; I'm just not able to enjoy the luxury of commuting on my bike and I have to sit around doing paperwork even more. I decided to try a new thing for the first time! I joined a gym called Body Renew, and I even enlisted the help of a Personal Trainer! It was a fun thing to do, but expensive and I'm not really sure I got enough out of it to call it worthwhile since i'm pretty motivated to move around anyway. Then in 2012 i changed my diet radically - "went" vegan. I loved it and i totally got to cease counting calories or using the nutrition tracker here. In fact I didn't come back to Sparkpeople at all for a very long time because my weight was under control with virtually no effort at all. Around Christmas time of 2012 I started experiencing all over body aches and pains like I'd never felt before. Being at a total loss for why, I decided it must have been the Vegan diet and the fact that I am so bad about taking vitamins which are essential (especially b12) . I went back to the "regular" diet. I was very busy in 2013 with HAPPY family issues....new grandson, daughter wedding, and I happily ate my weight back up to 147...still look nice but just a bit chubby for my peace of mind. I'm now back to tracking my nutrition, ...trying to eat more plants and less meat. Sparkpeople makes it a fun game so hopefully I can get back down to 135...those last 10 lbs are just always lurking in the shadows. All of my children who are grown have taken active roles in fitness for themselves and that is very motivating. I also have another trip to Hawaii coming up in February 2015 and I'd like to look decent in a bathing suit! 1-13-19 - here we are years later. Still stubbornly holding at 146-147; not really where I want to be, but at the same time, i feel good and I'm still very active in spite of all the crap i have to take care of. I've recently gone to a mostly plant basted whole foods diet and am careful to keep on the proper vitamins to support that lifestyle. I do feel better all the way around eating this way for sure.

My original goal was to lose my "baby fat" by the time my youngest son graduated in May 2009. I only had about 14# to lose; but I struggled with it. I keep yo yoing those pesky 10 lbs or so, so now I just need to moniter again and try to keep it under control!

1. Moniter my calorie intake. Continue to limit between meal mindless snacking. 2. Get at least 30 minutes of "cardio" 4 X per week. 3. 8 glasses/water a day. 4. TAKE vitamins 5. Severely limit meat intake. We just don't "NEED" that much.

Born and raised (and still live) in Alaska. Happily married for 35 + years...3 children - girl age 34, boy 30 and boy 28. My children have now all married and we have four BEAUTIFUL grandsons! We own a hayfarm with a few beef cattle and I work outside the home full time for a telephone company as well. We have 2 Tennessee Walking horses. I'm pretty high strung....high energy. I'm also a heart attack surviver (at age 47). I love to quilt, ride horses, mountain bike, cross country ski and do just about anything adventurous with my horse girl buddies. I pretty much HAVE to exercise almost everyday to avoid anxiety issues..If I didn't I'd almost certainly be on some type of medication...but now that menopause has completely happened the anxiety doesn't happen as much and I'm lazier. Not only that, but it just doesn't seem like I have the speed and agility in my muscles. is it a lack of use or is this normal aging?...i don't know but its disburbing and I don't like it.
