I had a VSG - vertical sleeve gastrectomy - better known as a gastric sleeve on June 24th 2020. I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager and I am now 50. I am tired of it. I lost over 100 pounds in 2016, kept 80 of it off but simply had not been able to lose any more. I needed a tool that will help me do this. Please, for those that have not followed me in this, do not think "this was the easy way" it ain't even close to easy. But it is a beautiful tool with which to reach my goals and stay there!
Highest Weight (HW) 435 - BMI Feb 1st 2016 = 68.1 super-super-morbidly obese
Surgery Weight (SW) 352 lbs - BMI June 24th 2020 = 55.1 super morbidly obese
pivotal moment - 314 lbs - BMI August 23rd 2020 = 49 morbidly obese or class 3 obesity
pivotal moment - 299lbs - BMI Sept = 46.8 class 3 obesity - finally under 300
CURRENT WEIGHT (CW) 280 lbs - BMI December 29th, 2020 = 43.8 morbidly obese or class 3 obesity
pivotal moment goal ...255lbs - BMI DATE ??? = 39.9 = class II obesity (severely obese)
pivotal moment goal...223lbs - BMI DATE ??? = 34.9 = class 1 obesity (obese)
pivotal moment goal...191lbs - BMI DATE ??? = 29.9 = overweight
Goal Weight (GW) 159 lbs - BMI = DATE??? = 24.9 = normal weight
of course now they have changed the classifications of BMI, but that was how the classifications went when I started... this is current information
BMI Classification
18.5 or less underweight
18.5–24.9 normal weight
25.0–29.9 overweight
30.0–34.9 class I obesity
35.0–39.9 class II obesity
40.0 or more class III obesity
The surgical literature breaks down class III obesity into further categories, though the exact values are still disputed.
A BMI above 35 is severe obesity
A BMI above 40 is morbid obesity
A BMI above 50 is super obese
