So, no more Mrs. Doubtfire! I've eliminated almost 100 lbs.!

My story in pictures can be found here:

"[This journey] is not about achieving perfection. It's about achieving a mental and physical TRANSFORMATION. It's about optimizing your strengths, navigating around your vulnerabilities, and goin' for it! ...There can never be, and should never be, perfection in a living thing. There is nothing human about perfection, nothing to endear or inspire."

"Holy consensus, Batman. With so many 'experts' from Michelle Obama to the USDA to virtually all of the medical professionals (including doctors and dieticians) agreeing that 'Eat Less, Move More' is the way to go, you might think that it is 100% unquestionably true. But here's a queer thought... if we all agree that we know the cure for obesity, and we've spent billions on educations and programs - why are we getting fatter? In other words, why does this 'cure' suck so bad? DR. JASON FUNG

If you can identify with the above statement even a little, you need to watch this series of videos. They changed my life, and they can change yours, too (HINT: weight gain/loss is not about calories):

...and, if you are interested in healing your metabolism to the point of not having to worry about your weight again, then read this 28-part, and counting series (HINT: starvation mode is a lie that keeps you fat):

The Refiners Touch

There was a group of women in a Bible study on the book of Malachi. As they were studying chapter three they came across verse three which says, "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." This verse puzzled the women and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out about the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible study. That week the woman called up a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest in silver beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that, in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest so as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot - then she thought again about the verse, that He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver. She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. For if the silver was left even a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's the easy part -- when I see my image reflected in it."

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you and will keep His hand on you and watch over you until He sees His image in you.

Hi Ramona, I wanted to stop by your page and thank you for the nice things you said about my blog, and also because I find your page (as well as your words) so very inspiring. I find so much inspiration in your words, you thoughts, I am touched by your- gentle strength. The things you write are so much of how I feel, how a lot of us feel, I think, only for most it is difficult to put it into words. Thank you for doing the hard work for us, putting these feelings into words, so we don't feel so alone! I am so fortunate to know you Ramona, even if only on sparks! My very best to you, Tammy

    Hi, Ramona,
I guess I hadn't been to your page before. . .very inspiring! That's quite a story. I'm proud of you for facing all those "obstacles" and not letting them get in the way.
I had my daughter in my 40's as well, and I can tell you--it ain't easy! Even when you're in good shape, you just don't have the energy you had when you were younger. W need to get in shape so we can be the best we can be--for them and for us. I really want to have some grandchildren someday, and I know if I don't start helping myself now, that won't ever happen. I'll keep you in my thougts and prayers, and hopefully, together we can reach our goals.

Welcome to the Calorie Cycling team!

The best place to start, in learning more about calorie cycling, is by reading through the GREAT Tips, Links & Info thread on the sparkteam page. You can also visit the freedieting website that has a calorie calculator, to help calculate your 7-day calorie cycling numbers, make sure to read through the entire page since there's a lot of great information,

Just don't forget to coincide your higher intensity workouts with your high calorie days, the lowest calorie day is usually your rest days, everything else is normal cardio.

I highly recommend reading the article "The ZigZag Diet" by Dr. Squat,

and the article "IDEAL WEIGHT: IS THERE SUCH THING?" by Thomas Tadlock,

If you still have questions after reading through the threads please don't hesitate to ask in the "I NEED HELP" thread. General chit chat is usually in the "By the Campfire" thread OR you could always sparkmail me!

    Take care,

P.S. SparkPeople may cut the website addresses in half so don't forget to copy the whole thing!
