We have a little farm where I raise chickens and turkeys. We also have two donkeys and about to get 4 angora kid goats .Had 2 chicks hatch on Mother's Day and one yesterday. So my feathered kids are multiplying as well.
Protein mixed berry and Greek yogurt smoothie for breakfast! I love my diet.
My thought for the day. Inspiration to keep on going and get this temple in shape.
Tranquility. Finding some peace on a rainy Sunday morning. Birds chirping, frogs croaking, rain pattering, everything green and smelling cleansed.
Got home in time from the doctor's to see my perfect, sweet, beautiful grandson! Doctor also says knee should be fine and I just need physical therapy. I'll take that!
Forget about your failures. Forget about what you did before and what you lost and gained back. Look forward to what you will do and become. Look forward to accompanying what you've set out to do.
Because happiness is contagious and he's such a ham. #myinspiration
We added some new members to our little farm family yesterday. Angora goats! I spin fleece into yarn. It's my superpower. So introducing my incentives to get outside at least 4x a day. Tyrion, Khal, Missandei, and Khaleesi Daenerys.
I'd love to be able to just lay there, getting all fat and sassy, eating right out of the bucket. #noshame #goatlife
This was my country road view on my walk/run today. Love living rural!
My weight hasn't moved much in the lady couple of weeks. But those inches are disappearing, so I call it a win!
The recipes on SparkPeople have become some of our very favorites! Tonight's menu is sour cream enchiladas. Delicious! My husband can't eat spicy food, so I added a bit of hot sauce at the end and eliminated the jalapeΓ±os and pepper jack.
Yesterday's goals were crushed right to the ground! Who knew I could do all of this in a day? If you had said 6 weeks ago I'd be at the gym for an hour, sweating on the weight machines and running I would've laughed! #lookatmenow
No, it is not. I was tired today. It is gym day #3. My evil fat self was trying to talk me out of going. It tried to make a hundred excuses. It was still making excuses as I left work and got in the van. Yet still when I was in the parking lot and going through the door. After I changed my clothes, I said, "Take that." 30 minutes of cross fit.
Too often we accept the lie because it is easier. "Take the pills. Drink the shake. Wrap yourself up. You'll lose weight fast and easy." Temporarily. Work for what is eternal and permanent, not for the temporary.
Great start to re-energizing my workout days. That and the support from my fellow Sparkers! Hauling 2,000 lb pallets off the truck is a great workout.
What? Size 4 pants! Still have a tummy pooch to work on and 12 more pounds to lose, but I'm feeling good about this.
Just had to share! My little goats are finally out in their own field and enjoying fresh green grass. Cute little future yarn balls.
That after - run glow. Coupled with a feeding of success.
Took this on July 4. I can't remember the last time I saw a rainy line of muscle between my abs! It's there, ever so faint. Going to keep working on this thing.
This verse is on the treadmill at my gym. It helps me give it that extra push at the end.
In about 8 weeks this will be my newest working partner on the farm. Half great Pyrenees and half Anatolian Sheppard. Isn't he adorable? Only 4 days old here
Migraine headache medicine. Partially sinus, but got a nice halo, noise and light sensitivity to go with it. Fun fun. When it comes to getting rid of the pain, calories be d***ed!
I did it! I completed Week 3, Day 3 of #C25K! I was so scared of those 3 minute runs because I couldn't do them in the past. I was scared of failing again. But I did it. On to week 4. Can't believe I'm saying that!
Looks like my country walls may not happen for a while. These two and 3 others were found within less than a quarter mile from my house! Rattle snakes and big ones. These things scare me worse than anything because of the kids and animals I have on the farm! Will have to walk fields and make sure to carry a gun every time I let the animals out.
Who completed Week 4,Day 1 of #C25K? This girl! I was so nervous and she I would not be able to do it. I've never done a 5 minute run successfully. Today I did not just one, but two 5 minute runs and and two 3 minute runs. Feeling pretty satisfied with myself.
I love seeing all of this green! It's like winning the fitness lottery. Lol. #Fitbit
I think I need some new running shoes. These are 4 months old and were bought for work initially. Now showing wear at the toes. But the. $$$!
Forgot to share this beautiful, foggy sunrise with you this morning! Turned out to be another hot and humid Georgia day, but I burned a bunch of calories with it. So here's looking forward to tomorrow's sunrise and thanking God for all of it.
day 14 of my streak for "Exercise for at least 10 minutes per day" earned 7/15/2017
These things are so good. I get them at Wally World. Only 250 calories and 16g of protein. Takes me through a lunch.
This is how I feel some days
Every day we must choose to enter the battle. Sometimes we win, sometimes we don't. But always know that you will rise again.
Spent the morning with the goats as usual. Today my collie/husky mix, SoCo, joined us. We are practicing for when Justice, our livestock guard dog, gets here. He was such a good boy. #deliciousdailymoment
House cleaning is no joke.
Going to print this out and hang it up!
Monday, you have met your match! Up and at 'em at 5 a.m. With a 30 minute 236 calorie burn Fitstar workout.
Once upon a time there was a girl breathless after the first minute. Today she did this. #C25K
Yesterday I did something I didn't think I could ever do. I completed half of the #C25K program. That means I've gone further than I ever thought possible. But I made a mistake. I looked ahead to see what was next. Now I'm worried I won't finish it. It's going to get harder. 5 minute runs were tough. Now I have to do 3 in a row, then in one day move on to an 8 minute run. I'm seriously doubting myself. But I'm going to give it my best shot. I mean, I've come this far. Why give up now?
This morning I was worried about making it through my next run. Now it looks like I'll have to repeat some weeks. Pretty sure my toe is broken after a fully loaded pallet jack ran over it. Only about 1000 lbs or so. Won't be any running for a while.
Not giving up, but changing direction. Will need to adapt exercising and the gym to upper body and things that don't involve my foot. This upsets me and is disappointing because I was just starting more intense workouts and half way through #C25K. But I will adapt and press on.
Doing a 30 day ab challenge which requires a 70 second plank today. Did it on one foot. Do I get bonus points? π
Got me a real sexy new fashion accessory. Toe is not broken, just need to stabilize it so it can heal properly and I can walk. Good news is, she said in 10 days it should be pretty well healed. Back to running again soon!
I have to keep myself very positive right now. I've had a few setbacks with my foot and not being able to continue with my #C25K training for a couple of weeks. I was half way through the day before! So I'm not going to let it get me down. Just going to try to let myself heal and start where I left off, going forward or backward as that indicates. Got to have a plan and carry it through.
Good morning! May peace be with you this day and you hit all your goals.
Who says I can't still workout with a broken toe? A lot of the weight machines don't require me using that toe! So here's to 90 minutes of weights and elliptical (which also does not require me moving that foot!) and 300+ calories gone.
Just because someone else loses 20 pounds in a month doesn't mean you didn't work hard enough, ate too much, or can't do it. What it means is that you are you and your body will respond the way it is built to. God doesn't make mistakes. He made you perfectly. Celebrate your differences and stop comparing yourself to anyone but the old you.
Are you making a diet and exercise plan? Great! Are you putting it into ACTION? Plans are only as good as the paper they're on until you actually follow through on them. This is going to take TIME and EFFORT. But the results will be worth it.
I've been here so many times. I start for a while, love it, then for whatever reason life gets in the way and I stop. No stopping me now. With God as my personal trainer and determination as my driving force, nothing can stop me.
If God was not there to direct my paths I would be so lost. I can't tell how many times I've prayed to make it through a run or a workout.
#deliciousdailymoment
Good morning! Hope you meet your goals today and all week.

Foot seems to be healing. Was able to walk on it a bit longer today. Stood in the kitchen to do dishes and cook dinner as well. I'm finding alternative ways of exercising (other than running and Cardio that requires my feet) and have my lost some weight, getting over my plateau. So maybe a broken toe was the plan all along! Lol. Although, next time, Lord, maybe something a little more subtle?
#deliciousdailymoment My family fills my heart with love. These faces inspire and motivate me. From my mom, who has been gone these past two years, to my husband and children, and finally my beautiful grandson and daughter-in-love.
Had about 4 hours of sleep last night. Worked all day. Open house for school tonight. Got home and I'm beat. Need to make dinner but it's all frozen. Looks like we're headed out. We go to cracker barrel. After perusing the menu where all of their calories are listed, I end up with a beautiful and healthy meal at 408 calories. It can be done!
I adore these things. Tastes like toasted banana bread. #deliciousdailymoment
Today is the first day in 10 days I've been able to walk without a boot or a slight limp. So I'm on the mend. Don't think I can run yet, but thinking I can do the treadmill again on a walk. I can't wait to get back to running.

Just finished my Nike+ benchmark for Lean & Fit. Going easy on that toe, watching how I place my feet and weight. So the next benchmark should be even better.
Deep breath... Exhale. I did this today. It's hard when you get in your comfort zone, but you have dreams to follow. Decisions are made that could change the rest of your life. How important are your dreams? How comfortable are you? What matters more?
I have an interview at the gym I applied to on Wednesday! I'm super excited, but trusting that whatever happens, God's will be done.
45 fairly solid minutes. Can't do a couple of them because they involve my toes, but kept at the rest! Now for some bedtime yoga, a shower, and bed!
Today is my interview! I'm excited AND nervous. Praying for good outcome. I don't think I've ever wanted a JOB this badly. I've been studying hard in my personal training course and this could set the pace for what my future holds. So today I'm believing in God's will, my future self, and my present ability and knowledge. Have a great day Sparklers
What choice will you make?
Van Gogh was pretty smart. You start by eating fewer calories. Then you start to workout. At first it's hard, then you find yourself doing challenges and joining programs and getting better. Your diet eventually falls into line and you make better food choices without even being conscious of it. One day you find yourself doing a 45 minute circuit and wearing smaller clothes and you're all like, "What? How did I get here?" That's you one day. Don't discount the small things.
I got the job! Thank you to all that encouraged me and prayed for me. Along with a 2 pound weight loss, making $50, getting OT at work, and having a good inventory, my dreams are becoming a realization. I'm so happy right now!
I'm really struggling to get out of bed today. But coffee is calling. And my fitbit is going to tell me I'm falling behind. So here I go. Ok, now... Yep, I'm getting up. Well, maybe just 5 more minutes. Lol
So to celebrate my new job, 18 total pounds of weight loss, and meeting my exercise goal (exceeding), I went and got my hair done. I've wanted this style for a long time. He did an amazing job.
I haven't worn this dress in probably 10 years or so! I haven a little more to go, but this reaffirms that those 45-60 minutes a day and saying no to the bad foods is soooo worth it! I have an lbd again i can't wait to wear out.
Whooo hooo! This from the girl finding it hard to get in 10 minutes a day.
Smoothie king just opened up in our little town. Grabbed a Lean1 chocolate 20oz. 291 calories, delicious, and filling.
Got my new staff work shirt today (and 5 others). How cool is it to go to work and wear workout clothes? #makeithappen #dreamscometrue
The other day one of my younger co-workers from the grocery store was asking about my job at the gym, working out, losing weight, etc. I explained to her that it was a dream awoken in my heart when i learned i love fitness and nutrition. She said, "You really inspire me Mrs. Tammy. You really do. I want to do just like you are. " Now if that doesn't give the warm fuzzies nothing will.
good morning. After a couple of rough days I'm trying to get back on track. Did ok with the eating, just haven't been able to workout because of my two jobs and being super tired. But with every achievement there is a little pain involved, a little sacrifice, and we just have to readjust and come back stronger. I'm going to make this work!
Woke up with a sinus headache. Thank God for my husband who massaged my head at 4:30 in the morning after working all night. Still hanging in there, but I got my 30 minutes of sweat done. Feeling strong again.
feeling SPARK-ly after 30 minute workout this morning and 45 minutes of cardio tonight.
I love mexican food! How good does this look? Homemade oven baked chimichangas with Low carb tortillas, mexican cheese, and shredded chicken tenders. Tipped south guacamole, light site cream, lettuce, and salsa. A total of 390 calories with toppings. Perfect for dinner
have an awesome Friday!
I've started adding some of this to my 33.9 oz Smartwater. 2 packs, 10 calories, and sweetened with Stevia. I'm not big on artificial sweeteners, but this is pretty good and gives me a little zing to my normal water intake.
Good day! 50 minutes on the treadmill helped a lot.
taking my son to a birthday pool party today. First time all year I've put on a bathing suit. It's a lot baggier on me than it was last year! Next summer I'm going to rock a two piece. Lol (sorry about the sweaty hair. Just got back from a workout and pre-shower)

Sunday morning breakfast. Honey oat toast, peanut butter, blueberries, and a sliced apple.
The Velveteen Rabbit. Still one of my all time favorite books. May we all "become."
I'm my favorite place ever. How many people can say that about where they work?
I seriously did not care how many calories are in it, that first sip of Dunkin's pumpkin spice coffee is the best thing ever. Sometimes you just have to treat yourself. It's Been a busy week. It is made just a little sweeter because it was delivered to me by the world's best daughter-in-law and grandson. #winteriscoming
day 100 of my streak for "Track food or water" earned 8/20/2017
Mowing the lawn with a push mower. Have I expressed how much I hate our tractor? Can't get a belt to stay on it, so we're walking 2.5 acres in 100 degrees heat. I didn't get it done, but put a good dent in it. Most importantly, it's one heck of a workout!
Speaks for itself. Whatever you're feeling weak in with this journey, just remember you've always had the power.
My non-Nike, working late, morning routine. #gostrong #dontstop
Was able to do my first two trainings tonight on using equipment and do a body reassessment for one of our members. She was so happy with her results. Learning a lot and loving my new job more and more. I didn't believe it before, but I can honestly say you're never too old to follow a dream or pursue a desire.
It's been 6 weeks since I had my toe crushed and broken under a pallet jack. Also 6 weeks since I finished Week 5, Day 3 of #C25K. Today I no longer have to be grunpy. Today, I will run again even if I have to start all over.
I did it! I'm starting on Day 3 of each week (up to week 4) until I hit the point I was at before I broke my toe (Week 4,Day 3). It felt so amazing to run again! The girl I was 3 months ago wouldn't have said that. #c25k
One thing about making a healthy lifestyle change is the additional change in attitude and energy. There are things I never had considered before. Now I ask myself, why not? Hiking in the mountains? Sure, why not? Biking to work? Yes - when it gets cooler - why not? Running an 8 minute mile? Definitely going to try!
Tougher today, as it should be. Week 2, Day 3. Wondering if I should do this a couple more times before moving on. Don't want to push too hard, as I'm running and walking faster than I was previously.
I have two jobs. One that brings home the reasonable paycheck, the other that is my chosen profession. I hope to one day make my profession into a reasonable paycheck! I've gone through life not really knowing WHAT I wanted to do. I have degrees in various professions, yet nothing I really love - Until I went on this diet and exercise journey! I have so much passion for fitness and nutrition! I love my job at the gym. A profession I finally have a passion for.
Kind of proud of myself. I had a cup of water before my first cup of coffee. That's saying a lot.
One of my favorite breakfasts. Low carb whole wheat English muffin, fried egg, ham, and cheese. I prefer low fat mozzarella or sharp cheddar, but all I had is American before grocery shopping. Add a banana and I'm ready to go with good carbs, fats, and protein. Nutrition, not diet. Portion control, not starvation.
Today my sweet little grandson turned a year old! I enjoyed cake and hot dogs and tortilla chips with salsa. He'll only turn 1, one time.
I'm closing in on my goal weight and trying to tone and tighten these baby flab abs! I mean, I've had 5 children, including a set of twins. It's time to treat them right! Starting an ab challenge and doing a little "before" picture so I can mark my progress. Let's see what happens in 8 weeks!
#fitness is about sweat, bad hair, more sweat, some stink, and no makeup. In other words, it ain't always pretty. But the results after the shower...
πΏWorking out in the great outdoors with a breeze and 80 degrees.

Was off work tonight so I decided it would be a good day to catch a couple of classes at the gym. I did my #C25K run (Week 2, Day 3, again, and getting better) then went into circuit craze for an hour, followed by another half hour of awesome abs. I'm feeling all beast mode right now. Total of 669 calories burned according to my Fitbit. Plus, I had a blast! Total of 2 hours at the gym. #feelingstrong #Iloveexercise
I nearly doubled my step goal yesterday with the running and workouts! I'm thinking today I may grab a shredder smoothie from the king and head to the park to walk for lunch.
Update on my grandson. Not much to report in the way of answers. Stool and blood cultures came back with no growth, which I guess means it's not bacterial. Have to wait another 24 hours for conclusive results. Fever was down and they have him on antibiotics. He seems to feel better now that they're letting him eat and drink soy formula. No dairy for now. He has a pretty bad diaper rash from the messy diapers. I felt better seeing him today. Prayers work and I thank you for yours.
Peace on the farm! Got my new little livestock guard dog today. He's already taking his place in the herd and doing his job. He is A Great Pyrenees /Anatolian Sheppard mix and at 8 weeks old already 16 pounds! He's the one In the front. The rest is my 7 year old husky/collie goofball, my 4 little angora goat kids, and my two donkeys.
Not too bad. I had some a few weeks ago, homemade, and I didn't like them. These I warmed up and they're pretty tasty.
My lunchtime walk today. Had to relieve some work stress before I lost my job. Serenity.
Leash training! It took about 5 minutes, but this smartie is catching on quick. Have to learn to walk before we can run. :)

Well finally a better weather report for our area. Irma has shifted west which means we may only get Cat1 or tropical winds instead of Cat 3! Bad news is it puts us on the side of tornadoes. I'm just praying the good Lord shields those in the path of this wicked storm. Our grocery store has been crazy busy, so at least people are getting prepared for the worst.
So no workout again today, but over 14k steps combined between work and after. A felt like I had a lot of exercise lugging boxes of gallon jugs of water and checking out customers for 8 straight hours. Used a lot of muscles today. Tonight was the real win, though. On those days I just can't get to the gym, it's too hot outside, or there are too many snakes for my comfort level, I have a new treadmill! My sweet husband and son helped me go pick it up tonight. I can't wait to get on and use it.
Feeling like a total rock star! 90 minutes of working out including a 30 minute #C25K run and another 45 minute #nike+ workout. Gotta fuel up with some protein! Making some toast to get those carbs in so my body has energy to burn.

My tummy is screaming for food after completing my 30 minute #C25K and another 34 of kickboxing Cardio. But first a shower...

My "little" baby is growing up. I've had him for almost two weeks now and it's hard to adjust to having a puppy again. As of today he is 10 weeks and 4 days. He's standing next to my 7 year old collie /husky mix who is 70 pounds. SoCo is teaching Justice many of his ways. But before long Justice will be bigger than him! They grow up so fast!
Me and my honey bunny. He's lost 10 pounds since "eating like I do" which basically means portion control and good nutrition. Today he did another round of kickboxing with me. I'm so proud of his efforts.
I did it! 365 Γ 40! I'm so happy today because not only is it my birthday, but it's the first birthday during my lifestyle change. I feel like I have a new lease on life and it's full of prospects. From here I can go everywhere! Join me on Instagram @40fitlike16 where I'm sharing more of my weight loss journey. I will have my cake and eat it too today.
Bigwigs are in town and checking out the grocery store. Glad I'm headed to lunch cause this is how I feel about it!
So even with that dang cheese Danish faux pas rocketing up my fat and carbs, I managed to run some recovery and still end up with a good differential and a better macro balance. I've learned my lesson well, though. Just say no.
Put my new birthday Skechers to work today! First run in them and Marilyn was right about giving a girl the right pair of shoes. Fitbit lit up green like Oliver Queen. #fitstar gave me a sore core and #C25K Week 2, Day 2 is done and done. I've been beating myself up about eating a cheese Danish all day. Now, I'm not feeling so bad. #rockmyrun #fitness #liveoutloud #willpowerstrength #thisgirlcan
Stated the day with a 30 minute incline interval Walk on the treadmill and another 20 minutes of yoga. I have my body reassessment at the gym tonight. Hoping for good numbers and results. Especially that bmi!
Found this beauty hanging out in the store today. Told him he could find a much better place to be than in that store and took him outside. Had little bits of pink on its wings. So pretty. Yes, even moths have a beauty.
Had my body reassessment done at the gym today! Everything is down! I'm so excited. Went from 35% body fat down to 24%! Lost 9.5 inches overall. My new goal is 22.6%. Healthy eating and exercise. My favorite part is the quote she put at the top. "At first they will ask WHY you're doing it. Later they'll ask HOW you did it."
day 3 of my streak for "Exercise for at least 10 minutes per day" earned 9/22/2017
Yay for meal planning! This is the best lunch I've had in a while. All the makings for a stomach citrus salad, grapes, butternut squash, and marinated baked chicken breast. (sorry I ate some before I thought to take a picture)
Exactly one month ago I started the 6 Pack promise app and created a 30 day challenge for myself. I haven't stuck to it wholeheartedly, and was feeling a little discouraged because I didn't think I'd done enough or had good results. But comparison photos can make a world of difference! Going to go for another 30 days and be more consistent.
Fridays are usually just a little bit after anyway, but tomorrow we will actually only stay in the 80s. Sunday is a high of 78! This is big news for us southern fall fans. Maybe the rattlesnakes will take a break and I can run outside again.
In two weeks this is where I'll be going camping and hiking! I love our home but my heart longs for the mountains at any given time. Hiking, fishing, history... Everything I need for my soul.
It's finally fall! Well, at least for today. Expected high of 77, a crisp, cool breeze. Sitting on our front porch drinking coffee and making plans for landscaping and gardens with the hubby. Praise God for seasons. Even occasionally in the south.
Me and my oldest. Today is his 20th birthday! He's just as goofy as I am.
Today I decided I wanted a filling fall breakfast. Oatmeal, pumpkin pie spice, Raisins, pecans, and a teaspoon of local pure raw organic honey. Delicious!
129.9! Back in May I decided - no, I determined - that I would get back down to a reasonable weight for my 5'4" frame. I set that goal at 125. Today, I saw 129.9 on that scale! First time I've gone below or seen less than 135 in probably 10 years or more. I've fluctuated between 135 and 150. So while it's not as huge a loss as some, it's my victory. I've nearly won.
It's just as important to find tranquility and a place for your soul to relax as it is to exercise and eat well
It's funny, but the more I preach against temporary fixes like shakes, supplements, pills, wraps, and fad diets, the more I'm asked to sell or endorse these exact same things. Don't waste your time or money! Nothing beats natural, lasting, lifestyle changes. Eat right, exercise, lose weight. No quick fixes! You'll feel like an outsider sometimes, but trust me, one day they won't ask why you're doing it, they'll ask HOW you did it.
Wish I could do this everyday!

Breakfast on the go!
It's Friday the 13th! Always been my lucky day. Actually, in medieval times, 13 was considered a lucky number. We're going on a mini vacation. All the farm animals have a care worker, plans are made, and it's time for some R&R in nature. I'm so ready to go run the trails, do some hiking and fishing, and sleep on the ground. Yeah, I'm crazy, but I love it. Waterfalls and crisp crunchy leaves on worn dirt paths, here I come!
This is what a day of hiking looks like! I am so totally addicted. I'm not sure how I'm going to go back to my day job as if life is the same!
Took my lunch break and went for a run along our beautiful downtown bike /walking path. It was wonderful! On the way back I got lunch at my favorite local coffee shop. A club sandwich and iced chai tea. I put on my workout clothes under my work clothes and did the superman switch in the van. Lol. Back to work for another 7 hours between my two jobs, but I'm getting my workouts in.
day 3 of my streak for "Exercise for at least 10 minutes per day" earned 10/18/2017
Another lovely trail in our city. This one is on the other side of town and goes through woodlands, farms, and swampy areas. A variety of wildlife and people out running, jogging, walking, biking, and skating. I did just over 1.5 miles on it walking.
Another lunch time run to practice for my race in February. Did it without the backpack today and used a different trail, which seems to have a smoother path so less resistance. Was really happy with what I did after yesterday's disappointing performance.
Water therapy. After 5 days of exercise and 3 of them running, I'm due.
I just had to share this moment of pure bliss. Greek yogurt and fruit parfait. They were out of granola so they filled it with bananas. Oh my! Heaven. This and a spiced chai tea, I'm ready for my next 4 hour shift.
I should be celebrating -22 pounds lost. This is since I've had my Fitbit. But today my thought patterns are, "So what. Just going to go up again tomorrow." I know it really won't, but depression is kicking in.
Even though my self esteem and self worth are taking some punches lately, I have to remember I am Victorious in Christ. There is a lion inside of me that demands to be free. So I'm trying to break out of this funk and press on.
Well, I gave in and I'm home sick. :( So thinking peaceful thoughts and gloriously happy about the cold weather. Came home, put on a sweater, and loved that it is now too big! I will wear it forever, though, because it is the last Christmas present I ever got from my mom. Hope you all have a wonderful day. I'm going to nap.
Happy Halloween! I'm working this year so won't be dressing up or going out with my kids. :( My teenage daughters are taking them out. I hate missing out on it, but it is what it is. I hope everyone stays safe and within their calories! ;)
This month is one of my favorites! Besides Thanksgiving, we also celebrate the birth of two of my favorite people. They were born 54 years and 364 days apart. My husband and my youngest son! Our "baby" turns 10 this year. We named him Asher which means "happy" in Hebrew. And he is the happiest, most carefree, loveable boy I know. I always tell my husband that he was his day early birthday gift! I hope everyone had a happy and successful November.
Finally back to running! Took a week, but I'm so happy about this. Hoping it will turn a bad day around. Along with a southwest salad from Chik fil a, got my lunch game on.
The "trail" in front of my house. Finally fell the incidents of rattlesnakes is down with I feel comfortable to run it. Good old country dirt roads. Foggy, misty, cool morning.
Today's run was not my best. Try again! But at least the scenery is beautiful.
New fitbit band. I have to wear leather or cotton because the silicone breaks me out. So now I have to get this one all broken in. But those jokers get to stinking if you can't wash them!
Finished my first yes.fit virtual race today. 24 miles I've walked or run since Wednesday. Not too shabby!
Took a power walk in the park at lunch. Cool breezes and sunshine. Beautiful day
Did a little barefoot Incline walking on the tready today. Found out it takes 71 days to recover from shin splints. Have never given it that long, thus no full recovery. Soo... Working on building up those Calf muscles, thighs, and shins, toning my core, and working on my stride. Next time, socks, because the blisters hurt. But started with Eye of the Tiger and ended with Sweet Child o' Mine. Good sweat!
Turned in my notice yesterday. Boss fake - cried and said he was going to make me feel guilty about leaving. Honestly, once that decision was made, nothing could make me feel guilty about it. Insecure and nervous, yes, but not guilty. Although I will miss him and my coworkers. So here's to the next 38 days of survival and fortitude!
Losing weight, getting fit, and learning to change your lifestyle is a journey. I think of it as a Bilbo Baggins invitation. Gandalf strode into his life, invited all the dwarves, disrupted his entire way of life, yet he always had a choice. He became more than he ever dared to think he could be, only because he said yes to the journey. So what will your answer be? Do you accept the quest? Or do you stay comfortable? #lifeisajourney #livelifetothefullest #liveoutloud
It's that time of the year!
Are you interested, or are you committed?
So much to be happy about today! Two pounds from my gw, NSV fitting into size 4 jeans, and an awesome power walk and workout.
That's today's overall feeling. I am content. I know the path I'm taking, I see hope for the future, I see a stronger family coming from the plans we have. So I took off my fitbit, made sure to do my ab exercises, and I cleaned the house. Made paper snowflakes with the kids, drank my water, had two cups of coffee, studied my lessons for my next exam, and have beef stew simmering in the pot. It's been a beautiful and relaxing day.
Improvised Greek Yogurt with fruit and nut parfait.
So often our minds give us the biggest challenges to overcome. We perceive the effort, not the reward, so we think it will be too hard. Or we've failed once or twice (or more) and we believe we will again. It is proven that what we believe and have faith in guides our lives and achieves results. So do you believe in failure? Or do you believe in success? That is your call.
@PHYLLISHODGES23 and not just cause I said, "hey, will you be my Guinea pig?"
My absolute favorite part of any workout is the stretch out! I feel like a dancer and a yogi. Plus, it's really, really good for your muscles, keeps blood from pooling in heavily worked areas, and helps you not to be sore and stiff the next day. #stretch #cooldown #fitness #trainer #stayphysical #selfie
#BeforeAndAfter Date night! This is the dress and shoes all come together. The first is from my son's wedding in February. Hard to believe 23 pounds makes that big of a difference. It hasn't been easy, but moments like this are so worth it.
Thought I'd share this picture of my grandson. He saw the fish at the grocery store and was in awe. He expressed it so beautifully. I have this as my phone background because A. He is an amazing guy. B. It makes me happy to see all that joy over some old goldfish. C. I love him to pieces. Simple reminder to find the joy in small things in life. All those little things add up over time and become much bigger memories.
Been training my replacement for the last week. No going back now! Not that I ever would have. I think the stress of it all is messing with my sleep, though. Waking up at early hours (2-3 a.m.) and having weird dreams. So even though I work the gym tomorrow, I'm really happy it's Friday. On a happier note, 21 more days of work, 40 until I should be healed from shin splints and can start running again, and 134 until the possible trail run. All good things. All good things...
Forgot to mention that last night my husband said to go ahead and order my Christmas present before they sold out (already missed my first choice). No need for a $400 bike just yet. Good old Huffy. Should be here in a few days.
I kicker her out of the room this morning because she was tearing up my 50 year old chaise lounge. Her step brother is laying in the bed with me getting pets. Can you tell by the expression she's plotting her revenge for the betrayal?
#BeforeAndAfter About the time I think nothing is changing, it's time for a look back! I haven't stuck with my 30 day challenge, but imagine if I had! Just have to keep getting better and stick with it!
Spent my morning doing this. Truly the only part of this job I'm going to miss.
Christmas break... I don't have to struggle with my son to rouse him from the bed, no bus to meet on time, and relaxed mornings with a hot cup of coffee. I'll also be spending my last two weeks of work getting out early and taking a couple of days off to go Christmas shopping. My replacement is trained and ready to go! Reality hasn't set in yet and probably won't until I have my first meeting on January 5.
About the time you think it's all going well, BAM!, life hits you square between the eyes. We haven't had a hot water heater in about 4 months in the front of our house. No $ to replace it. Finally got a heater, but still need $ to plumb it. We have a heater in the back, so we've had showers and stuff. No big deal. Last night the pump on our well just stops. No water! Now what? I'm frustrated and worried, but going to pray through it.

Too many sweets yesterday when I went shopping with my family at the outlet mall. Didn't feel great afterward. Grabbed a Boston cream donut this morning on my way to work. What? Time to correct these poor choices! Grilled chicken salad with light vinaigrette.
Took the bike out for the first time today. Did 3.5 miles on our dirt road, wind chill of about 32 and temp of 39. Mild inclines that felt like mountains! My poor legs are jello. But it felt awesome.
Definitely the longest I've ever gone any any type of "diet" or exercise plan. Spark people has changed my life for the better. When you dedicate yourself to actually changing your lifestyle and logging food and activity, you dedicate yourself to a better you.
Please forgive the mess in the background. Wanted to show off the super - cute outfit my daughter got me for Christmas. The shirt says working on myself, for myself, by myself. I have great kids!
Today's workout 45 minutes of treadmill with 4% alternating inclines and 45 minutes of Tabata with Daily Burn. I've tried DB before and really liked it. Think I'm going to stick with it for a while.
My last day in this hideous uniform. Elated doesn't even start to describe it.
Every functional muscle in my body aches. I can't move very well today because of this workout yesterday. And yes, I spent a good deal of time stretching out before and after! I'm kind of happy about it because it's the first time in a long time I've been sore after a workout, so I know it's an intensity that I needed. Today will involve yoga and maybe a bike ride. This is on Daily Burn BTW.
Thought I'd share this since I was pleasantly shocked. Out of curiosity and because I'm doing the You Vs The Year 2018 (1018 k in 2018, or 632.56 miles), I wanted to see how much I had done in 2017. Just over 1k miles in 2017 since I got my Fitbit in May. So now I'm thinking I may just sign up for the 2018 Run the Edge and give myself an extra 5 months to see if I can do 2018 miles. #fitness #challenge #walkorrun #2018 #goals
Finishing 2017 strong with a shun splint, pain-free run. Felt so good after not having run since early November!
day 7 of my streak for "Exercise for at least 10 minutes per day" earned 1/2/2018
day 234 of my streak for "Track food or water" earned 1/2/2018
day 235 of my streak for "Log in to SparkPeople every day" earned 1/2/2018
Really terrible picture but I saw this as I was headed home. Blood red super moon. It looked like the trees were on fire!
My beautiful ginger kitty girl. She's actually my daughter's, but when she's not here my lap is her top choice. She knows it's rare for me to sit still for very long so she seizes the opportunity when she can. Since I'm freezing to death, this is a nice afternoon snuggle.
After feeding all of the animals and changing out frozen water, I'm ready for a hot bowl of homemade turkey noodle soup.

I love running and am currently doing C25K when I can. Which means when my shins will allow me to. Today was a treadmill walking day, though. It's rainy, muddy, and altogether unpleasant in the southeast. To help pass the time and some I finished watching the last season Game of Thrones, I found this really cool app. I love being outdoors and this helps. Little tidbits of information along the way, too. It's called BitGym.
Super sexy compression sleeves. Not looking so hot, but no shin pain, so I don't care how I look! Burned 425 calories between running and kettlebell workout! Feeling like a boss. And hungry.
I did it! I cut and colored my hair. I feel 10 years younger.
Having a lazy Sunday morning, as evidenced by my buddy using me as a bed. Love this girl.
I really detest sales calls and paperwork. Keeps me on my butt. I'm trying to get through it, though. Only 4 hours today.

Been trying to stick with this an challenge for a few months now. Was supposed to be 30 days. I had a dream last night that someone told me I was getting a little chubby again. Got up today and did 51 minutes kettlebell routine on Daily Burn and Day 2 of 6 Pack Abs. No chubby here. Going to try to post this daily to stay accountable!
I'm am totally noshing on today's lunch. Cheesecake Greek yogurt, half a serving of Omega 3 nut mix, a banana, blood orange, apple, and a stick of mozzarella cheese. Lord have mercy on my taste buds! Just too good.
Falling back into some old habits today... Which isn't necessarily a bad thing! I've been knitting again since I've been under the weather. Last month I did 6 heart wash cloths for friends for Valentine's baskets. This month I'll be making cowls and scarves for March/St. Patrick's Day. I did this in black and white to practice a technique called brioche. Must keep my hands moving if nothing else!
Was that an actual outdoor run I just did? And I escaped the zombies? Not sure if it's the new Hokas, the warmer weather, being chased by virtual zombies or illness recovery, but I'm taking it.
Guess who ran a solid mile without stopping? I've always done a walk /run combo, but today I did a mile right in the middle of this run. Yeah, me. And I'm wiped out. Lol. My bootie is literally leaving sweat marks on the treadmill I'm sitting on. TMI? #ranamile #sweat #nike #nikerunning #nikerunclub #hokaoneone #running #fitness
Added another 2.25 miles to my challenges today. Haven't done as much as I wanted, but I'm not going to beat myself up! I've had some things to overcome and I overcame. My times are better, my distance is better, and I'm feeling back into my groove.
Per Runners World magazine:
Was supposed to have a long run today. Was really getting into it, looked down and realized neither my tablet was on nor my Nike Run app. By the time I got it all restarted I was too tired to go another mile. Ugh. Now it's all miscalculated. I may just redo it tomorrow. Frustrating. Not a runmance to brag about, but I guess it's an achievement according to them. Whatevs.
No excuses to not get outside the next few days! Just wish they'd come and fix the potholes in the road.
Had a late afternoon bike ride with this beauty. 3.3 miles AND my wish came true - they graded our dirt road! The little section we had to ride was nice and smooth.
What a beautiful day here in South Georgia. Spent my morning with coffee, eggs, and toast, a 3.45 mile bike ride, and 20 minutes of yoga. Came back home to clean the house as we're prepping for vacation in Charleston, SC. I was super -pleased that our hotel has a fitness center, although I'm hoping for a run along the coastline at some point. God is so good. Being active and enjoying life is so much better than anything you'll ever watch on TV.
Thought it was kind of cool that my breakfast and lunch were exactly the same calories, but different meals.
Itty Bitty hotel fitness center with a treadmill, elliptical, and bike. But it has weights, a functional trainer, and all things necessary. Got in a little elliptical, used the functional, and did my abs workout. So still very happy with our pretty hotel suite!
Not eating so well, but intentionally staying active on this vacation! Spent two hours kayaking a salt estuary in beautiful Folly Beach, SC this morning. Now lounging on the beach for a bit before we go walking the pier. Yesterday was a day of walking museums and Charleston's City Market. It's been a beautiful and blessed vacation so far!
5 hour ride from Charleston to Atlanta doesn't give one a whole lot of opportunity for activity!
Our final day of vacation was spent closer to home in Savannah, GA and only involved 2 hours of driving lol. We went to the first ever (and my first ever) Savannah Comicon. It was way more fun than I thought it would be! I met some very interesting people, self-published authors, indie artists, and relatively popular comics creators. I bought some things and had a blast. Looking forward to next year! These are my two youngest dressed as characters from Overwatch.
Had to go a little shorter on the hair! Did this the day before we left on vacation. I love being able to flaunt a cute pixie cut again. What I detest is the "cute modern cuts for older women" posts on Pinterest. Dude, ain't nothing "older" about this woman lol!
Have had a very busy past 5 days. Thinking I may take a cue from my husband and the cats and get a little more sleep now that my son is off to school.
When you don't re-rack your weights someone else must. That someone was me. Just dropped 15 pounds on my pinky finger. Don't think it's broken, but waiting for it to hurt once the swelling goes down. Got ice on it.
Just finished a 3 mile bike ride with my youngest girl! Got her a new bike yesterday. We love this time together. We don't go very far or very fast yet, but we're working up to it.
Beautiful morning walk! A little over 3 miles at 3.5 mph. Yes. That's a cow.
Hubby made some delicious, crusty bread. I've been on the couch all day yesterday and most of today. Getting some reading done, but I've felt awful. Think it's a combination of a head cold and allergies. So I paired the fresh bread with some vegetable beef soup.
Had a really good day off workouts. Did an hour of kettlebells and abs and then a 3 mile walk on the tread. I also made a schedule to plan my workouts for the week. I'm not a scheduler. But I figured with my upcoming trainer cert I should probably practice what I preach. No more guess work!
We are rednecking it up today! Took our rooster surplus to the livestock auction and now we're sitting in the Huddle House waiting for the auction to start. No way I'm leaving here on a diet today. Good thing I've been under all week!
Grammy spent the afternoon with her favorite little monster. I love that I have more energy to keep up with him now!
The same can be said for weight loss or a fitness journey. Enjoy the ride! It may be long and sometimes hard, but it's yours.
Been a while since I posted! I'm so excited. I'm about 1.2 miles away from finishing my 100 miles walk/run/bike goal for the first 3 and months of the year. There were moments I didn't think I'd make it. Now I may finish a day early!

Had my first boxing class tonight. It was more like crossfit with all of the cardio and hand weights. I think I sweated a gallon of water. Holy crap it's tough, but it is so much fun. Great workout. I'll be going back for more.
One. More. Mile. Will probably try for it on Saturday morning! Nothing will beat the hills I did today on the back roads! I have a 9 mile goal to ride to work. I can do this. #exercise #bike #cycling #biketowork
Today's recovery run. Looks like rattlesnake season has come early. Going to have to keep my eyes open or travel somewhere else. I didn't kill it. Think an animal or bird got it. It's just a baby. But they're more poisonous than adults. I got 4 miles of walk run, very easy pace. Brisk 46 until I started sweating and the sun came up good. My bestie @PHYLLISHODGES23 came over and we did another 2 mile walk together. Been a great day. Happy Friday!
This is my Sunday so far. Went for a run and saw my buddy that greets me every time. Did my workout earlier. Now "helping" hubby to remove the bushes on the front of the house by stepping on the gas once he has them hooked up. It's been a beautiful day.
So today was much more successful. Kind of. I got a run in on the trail. Did my 4x400m. Had really crappy times. I've had 5 kids and impact cardio does this to me sometimes - I'm more concerned with staying dry than times. But no migraine! Yay!
Wasn't happy with the first go. So after my training today I decided to do it again. On the treadmill. Near the bathroom. Times were awesome!
Did my abs. Now I'm dying. And I have a pained but pleased face to replace yesterday's grumpy face.
#BeforeAndAfter Tell me you can see a difference. I've only lost 5 pounds, but I'm happy with the toning that's going on. I'm half way through week 3 of the #runtastic #results app training and a month of the six packs abs. @runtastic has been pretty great so far. What do you think?
Got my finisher's medal and swag pack in the mail Friday! I'm so stoked. My first ever medal and it's for 100 miles. Yes, #sheisfierce #fitness #gotamedal #running
Yesterday's walk with hubby turned into 4 miles! Then, of course, I had to get my run in, so 2 more miles it was. Busy night at work and stayed active through the whole day. My poor legs are feeling it today! But I have a bike ride and boxing to attend to tonight, so they'll just have to catch up! Lol.
I am 1/2 a mile from my ride to work goal . Looks like Monday will be rainy, so will need to aim for Tuesday 10. At least it rhymes. #biking #goals
Today is our 20th wedding anniversary. I feel blessed that I found someone with the same level of crazy I possess. It's been a wild ride, and I'm happy to be on it.
1.75 mile recovery run on a not - so - sunny Georgia day. But wearing my new running shades anyway. Looks cool, right?

I did it! This big, cheese grin is my 10 mile victory grin. 10.2 to be exact. That was my wrong turn at Alberquerque. I started out on my bike doing 3 miles with my daughter. I upgraded to 6 on my own, gradually increasing over time. I had a goal to be able to ride 10 miles to my work. Now I know I can do that!
5 years ago I couldn't peddle without extreme pain in my knees and thigh. Today, I rode 10 miles.
Ran 2.51Β mi with Nikeβ Run Club I haven't run this park since November of last year. I know I went a lot farther and faster! I think the last time I barely made it around once. This time I did 2.5. About the time I think I'm not getting better, I look back and compare.
I also have some super-tight hammies. Decided to start adding more hamstring stretches into my regular stretching. I do yoga every now and again, but it's not enough. Got to stay flexible!
It looks really bad, but tastes oh so good. Quinoa, turkey burger, and cream of chicken.
I a little stoked about this! I'm riding my bike in the month of June to raise money for Children's Cancer Research Fund. I really wasn't going for the accolades, but pretty cool anyway! If I could just meet my $500 goal I'd be even happier. Going to keep trying!
Breakfast day 3. I am horrible about eating breakfast. This will be followed by a hard-boiled egg and a cup of yogurt. Trying to make breakfast a habit over the next 21 days.
Yoga today. Beautiful weather and I dint want to miss it. So took the mat out to the back porch and found zen in the trees. Namaste.
Wrapping up this beautiful Saturday in wonderful fashion.
Is anyone else excited that May is National Bike Month? And we have a bike to work week the 14-18? Last year biking to work wasn't a possibility for me. This year it is!
My running buddy today. He says he is tired. We did a nice, easy run because he's 7 years old and hasn't run much. But it's good for my boy.
Bike Month official kick off! My husband says it is still too dark at 6 a.m. for me to ride! He's mostly right. So he took me to work, bike in tow, and I rode home. Another 10.5.
This morning's breakfast (Day 6 of my streak). Egg and spinach scramble with a few mushrooms, green onions, cheddar cheese, and turkey sausage. Accompanied by a side of pumpernickel rye toast. Delish!

It's been a "fruitful" morning lol. Second time this week and we're on our way toward making a pie and some compote for waffles and such. Also delicious in smoothies! We pick these right alongside our dirt road and in the woods by our home. Takes time, and walking, and sunscreen, but oh so worth it! Nature's bounty
The first picture on the left is from February of last year. The other 3 are the same dress from today. It's almost too big for me!
What? A 5K? WITHOUT STOPPING?!?! Yeah, I did that. PR of 33'41" Afterward I did a runtastic.results workout and prior to it a Nike Training Upper Body Sculpt. Made myself proud today. #ntc #nrc #runtastic #runtasticresults #nike #hokaoneone #fitness #running #runner #5k
No one else would go for a walk with me. So I asked my best friend and he said yes!

I will be leading my first group fitness class every Tuesday in June! I put it together, presented it to my boss, she said heck yeah.
#BeforeAndAfter A year's difference! Sometimes I don't feel like I'm making progress. And even though the weight holds steady, I am losing inches and gaining muscle, so I don't worry about the scale numbers too much. Diet? Intuitive dieting and clean eating. That's it. Exercise? Biking, running, workouts, and now weight lifting. I don't ever want to look pregnant again! I've had my 5 kids and I'm ready to keep getting ME back.
Hi Sparkie friends. I changed my profile name to match my Instagram. We don't really have a farm anymore, so LyonsFarm was a bit outdated. Didn't want to confuse anyone! If you'd like to follow my Insta account, search for @rippedjeansnroses
Rode 18.65 bike miles today. Which means I'm 34 miles into my goal of 40. I think I set my bar too low!
Between running and biking I put in almost 13.5 miles yesterday. Somehow my running days have become duathalon days lol. I bike to town, do my run, bike home. 5.75 miles was my run. I never imagined myself running that long or that far! And yes, fitbit only shows 10 miles, but it doesn't count bike miles or actual miles very accurately, so I just go with it and trust in MMR and My Nike app. Both say the same thing, so I figure 2/3 is the more reliable estimate.
Figured since it is #flexfriday I'd get out the guns. Another 8 miles on the #bike and a 3.75 mile #recoveryrun this morning. Came home and did a @runtastic.results #workout. I'm nearly done with my 12 weeks! 2 more workouts to go. #running #cycling #cyclist #fitness
When your husband walks in the room and says, "Is that MY beautiful wife?" That's why I keep him. π I think he might need some new glasses, though. It's the little things and comments that keep me going.

I've been trying to strictly follow a strength-training plan the last few weeks. So far, so good. Was reading about the benefits and necessity of including functional training into your routine to facilitate and mimic daily activity. This translates into the body having more natural movement, stability, and flexibility, which will be a benefit not just at a young age, but will improve quality of life into senior years. Think that will become part of this training!
Wasn't feeling well on Friday, but I had the day off so I took it. Which meant I was behind on two days of training by Saturday. So I doubled up and did full body. Did push ups and pull ups to failure. Still working on bodyweight pull ups, so using our machine. I'm down to 80 pounds of counterbalance and doing 10/set. Added 15 push ups over last week. Progress!
Happy Halloween! Hope you got in a pre-candy workout today. Had a short day at work and taking the kids out later. Gonna steal some things from candy buckets. So I got in a good upper body workout. Gym zombies want gainz!
Spent nearly 2 hours practicing for Tuesday's Body Rock class that I teach. Been trying to change it up with new songs and moves each month. Last month was Halloween music and I wasn't thrilled with it. This month it's Rock-vember. Brininging out my inner rocker with metal and rock from the 80's-today. This one is a lot more fun. Throwing in some Tabata during the Cardio sessions. That is tough! Hope my class survives. They already say I'm a beast. Lol
BOOM! That's how I'm feeling today. Core Cardio and flexibility /mobility with the yoga this morning, then strength later in the day. #fierce #fitness #fitspo #stronggirls #strenghttraining #weightlifting #freeweights #girlswholift
Meet my goals gestational, regardless of what fitbit says. Spent over an hour on Cardio/strength, watched the grandson play outside, walked the dog 100x,and cleaned and organized my bedroom and living room. So yes, way more than the 44 minutes it gave me credit for! I know it has to meet certain MET levels, but I guarantee that Cardio alone was in range. But we had a blast as we dance to Christmas music and he took these expert eye selfies. Just 2 and a pro. ππ
5 weeks into my training routine. Finally got all 5 days in a row. Hoping to get the bike out tomorrow with Blue and get some Cardio in. Today is a rest day.
It's always a challenge to figure out how to get 4 people to 4 different jobs on a daily basis when 3 of them have part-time, mixed hours schedules and they share a single vehicle. Such is life! So today I ended up walking 3.12 miles from my job to my daughter's, while the other daughter was scheduled to come and pick us up. Got my exercise in and saved a little gas. Oh, and also did that walk in 56 minutes. π
Had a chance to sit and sip on a green smoothie for a late lunch, too.
#beforeandafter I have yet to hit my "goal" weight. But I think I'd rather look like this than I did 2 years ago today and have some muscle weight than a goal weight!
Don't skip leg day! So often I hear women say they don't want bulky legs. I work out my legs twice a week, run, and bike. Your legs are the foundation for the rest of your body and one of your largest muscle groups. Don't be afraid to work them and get strong muscle definition! I spent 45 minutes on legs yesterday and did a 4 mile walk in the morning. Your whole body is important, and spot-training does not work. So go for it and you'll love what happens.
Badly Valentine's day! Whether you have one or not, I hope you've treated yourself well. I wanted to share this little picture because as a diehard pet rescuer, I know there's a lot of love to be found at your local shelter! Hubby and I went out to Chili's and then took a walk at dusk along our local trail with some hot coffee in hand. It was very relaxing and romantic. Long day tomorrow, and my baby boy is sick, so am not looking forward to it much like I should. Hope your Friday goes well.
Last week's stats! I knew I was sore for some reason. π But I didn't die, so on to this week. #fitness #strength #strenghttraining #weightlifting #freeweights #girlswholift #fitspo #strongwomen #stronggirls #jefit #BeforeAndAfter
Running and a kettlebell HIIT circuit today. It's my day "off" but mostly that means from strength Training. Getting the pupper ready for hiking this summer.
Got in 7 days of activity/workouts! Finished up this weekend with a #kettlebell #circuit I believe in rest days, but I also think that "rest" can mean a change up of routine. Gotta keep the body guessing and moving. And I'm seriously addicted to kb. Also getting my hair done now. Hopefully the red will be gone after this. π€·ββοΈ Hope your #weekend is smashing! #fitness #strength #strenghttraining #fitspo @coffee_princess03 #homeworkout
Crushed the Monday goals, now on to Tuesday. How's your week going?
Monday was showing off to Tuesday. Monday says, "Bet you can't match this." Tuesday says, "Hold my beer."
Along with meeting my Fitbit goals all week I came really close to being all of my workout goals as well. I wanted to do that bike ride, but after a 3 mile walk and 2.3 mile run, my legs had it. Also rode 8.5 yesterday. Just need a long massage right now! Lol.
I'm starting a beginner Kettlebell class in April. Very excited, but as always, very nervous. Finished a session on my own yesterday. I just adore the versatility and full body workout these handled bowling balls can give. I wrote a blog on my website about them and their benefits. If you're interested in reading it, go to www.tammylyonscpt.com/blog
All up except the sleep and 2 calories! I knew I was tired last week, but most likely it's from taking off the Fitbit and letting it charge while I sleep. Started off yesterday with 4 hours of sleep, but got in a nap. Today's looking a lot like the same. π€·πΌββοΈ I do try, but don't always hit the mark.
Blue and I took a very nice run and then walked back yesterday. Sun was shining, nice breeze, simply beautiful day! A little over 4 miles and we did some exploring on our walk. Encountered some angry cows, swamp was blooming with pretty yellow flowers, found a long dead stuffed Easter bunny that was very much worse for the wear, and of course lots of animal prints for the Blue dog to sniff! Full video of our cow encounter on Instagram. @tammylyons_cpt
This is our St. Patrick's Day celebration. Lazed out on the couch. She's totally not Irish except by adoption. But she'd still love a kiss or to give one!
This is the farthest I've ever gotten in #C25K Only 3 runs left!
Sunday I took a rest day. Monday I felt a little off, tired, but did a workout and run. Tuesday... Exhausted! Truly just felt like laying in bed and breathing. Today, though, I found a new wind! Steps conquered, run mastered, Kettlebells locked and loaded, and threw in a little extra upper body back training. Still feel like I could go a few more rounds. π
As I look at $150 "on sale" running shoes and think I would never pay $25 to do Cardio... Honestly, though, you couldn't pay me to take pe class in middle or high school. I hated it. I had zero athletic ability and no one ever told me about weight lifting! It was always basketball, football, or some other team sport. Blah. If they had told me about barbells and Kettlebells, we may have had a working relationship back then... Lol
I did it! Finally FINISHED C25K after many stops and starts over the last 6 years. I have a 5k run to do (against myself) on Saturday, but all of the training is finished. Personal goal realized for 2019.
Blue and I ran our 5k on Saturday! Just me and her, no actual race, and we didn't PR, but we had a great time. I forgot my water bottle and sunscreen so I got a little burn and was thirsty. But there were water fountains and we both used them, me scooping water into my hand for her. She's definitely my spirit animal. We're starting a new program through MMR on Tuesday. Trying to up our distance. At one time I could do 8 miles. Hoping to get back there.
After a 4-hour work shift, strength-training, 2+ walking miles on the treadmill, and teaching a kettlebell class, I came home at 7:30 and ran 2.33 miles with Blue last night. My legs are wrecked. But I promised her and myself. Promises made, promises kept. ππΊπ² π Sticking with the Map My Run training plan for our next goal.
That smile goes for both of us.
Started "training with Vi" the other day. I was trying to get through a Map My Run training plan, but the app just doesn't give very good or timely feedback and even though I love it for most things, it doesn't seem individualized. However, even without the headphones, the Vi app seems quite accurate, gives immediate feedback, and is definitely personalized. As a bonus, I put this on Instagram and got a message from them cheering me on! What? Who does that? Not an ad, just my experience.
My third run with Vi. I don't think I've ever worked this hard. If I can ever afford the earphones, I'm getting them. Totally a game changer. And I don't ever say that about anything. One of the most inspiring aspects to me is that they put my posts in their Instagram story, cheering me and others on. Blue had started to respond to the 5,4,3,2,1...go! With speed changes and a little "let's go" or "bring it down" from me. I can feel her body prepping for the change. Very cool indeed
This is the last week of my Muscle & Strength Summer Burn 12 week program. Been pretty successful with it, made some solid gains, but ready to move on. A week to deload and I'll be tackling my self-designed program with an emphasis on splits in upper/lower hypertrophy and strength with abs, and Glutes. I call it Summer Killer. If y'all find me laying somewhere in the next couple weeks, grab me a foam roller and drag me back to the gym.
Are you in love with your journey? I think it's been the most exciting and life - changing adventure ever.
Glorious morning run with the birds singing and freshly bloomed flowers everywhere. Scent-sational. Since I began training with the Vi app, I actually am looking forward to running again instead of dreading it. Bonus: I'm getting better at breathing, knowing my pace, being conscious of everything, and having better overall runs.
Yesterday was my last session of my current 12 week plan. I killed it! On average I did four days/week, sometimes throwing in a day or two. Stuck with the program and seeing results! A week to deload and I'm back to it with my Summer Killer plan. Best of all, I finally did 5 pull ups with band assistance. Working my way to 10 and eventually to NO bands.
Last week was my deload week. Took the time to try out some new things, not stress over training, and prep myself for the upcoming Summer Killer Routine. I'm on day 4 of it today and so far, so good. Had to skip yesterday, though, because of a bad sinus headache. π€ So I'm going to switch it up and take yesterday as my rest day instead of Sunday. Even though I did get in a 5 mile run yesterday morning.
Got a new-to-me Jeep this past weekend! This means freedom in so many ways. We've been dealing with 1 vehicle and 4 working adults for close to a year now. Which means no camping trips, kayaking excursions, adventures of any sort unless they're in my backyard. The other vehicle we have is having parts delivered so we can fix it, too! I'm beyond excited to be a Jeep girl. My husband says it further concretes his belief that I'm a hippie. π
Yes, I ate the tuna right out of the can. ππ
Sunny and 75 for our run today. Sweatie selfie and our hard-working paws. Dirt road running until the doggie shoes get here.
Hello Sparkers! It's Flex Friday! I've been using my new self-designed program for the last two weeks. I think it's going well! My abs have been my struggle. No more. πͺ
Been down and out since Monday. Back at it today with a strength-training session and 24 minutes of treadmill walking. One week from today this naked arm will have some decoration on it! Getting my first tattoo at 41.ππ¬
I finally took the plunge and got it done!
Some weeks just aren't as productive as others. I've taken on 2 new clients, dealing with field trips and end-of-school-year projects, plus trying to maintain self and home. Becomes a bit overwhelming sometimes. But feeling back on track after a run yesterday and meeting my step goal all weekend and so far this week. Work today, so hoping I can keep this up.
Another great run in the park (minus sprinklers). Humidity is killer. Sweating buckets at 76F. Glad I went early.
2 years ago today I took my first before Pic. Middle one is a year later. Last one is today. Persistence pays off!
Man, it's hot out. Been running in the early morning to beat the heat. Skipped it today and did a leg workout. Then had a pool training session with my client. Thank the Lord for the pool! But glad I skipped running because my legs are dead. I think Georgia is done, Lord. It's not even June yet.
Run no. 3 for the week. Almost back up to 4x/week. My bike challenge starts Saturday, though. Riding to fight Kids Cancer for the month of June. I've pledged 150 miles. Going to get a good bit in while camping this next week.
There's a troll guarding the entrance to the fairy land! π€£π€£ This was part of the walking trail at Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, GA the kids and I hiked. We're on a nice long, "Welcome Summer" camping trip. Over 20,000 steps yesterday.

Rain is in the forecast for the next week. So I decided it was either run in it or hit the treadmill. If it's not thundering, I'm going for it. Rain, then humidity, then rain again. Makes for a sticky run, but I had a great time.
Second day this week I've been up before 6 and ready to go running. On Tuesday it was 5 am. Today, 5:30. Just the way I've had to carve out time to get it in because of work and other obligations. But I've been seeing the programmer on the coffee maker, laying out all my clothes, and trying to get in bed earlier to get this done. Amazingly, today was my best run yet. Improved times and still felt like I had some left in the tank.
Run at the park this morning for 1.5 miles, then a 17.65 mile bike ride after brunch. What a fantastic Saturday!
Another day, another run and ride! Just 2 miles on the bike today, but 2.5 for the Run. Pupper is pooped. She did it all with me.
I did it! Last summer my husband and I set a goal to ride 20 miles by bike to the closest campground. We were up to 13 miles when he had a heart attack in late August. Needless to say, that detailed the biking for a long time. Recently I have been riding to get donations to fight Kids Cancer through Great Cycle Challenge. I set a goal for 150 miles and $500 in June. Haven't made either yet, but I'm working on it. Yesterday I set out to ride 20 miles. I caught my unicorn!
Another personal goal met yesterday. I completed 6 chin ups in 4 sets. My elbow kept locking on a couple of them, so I couldn't get full extension and therefore a second pull up, but I've never done that much without bands or a machine before!
Finally got a run in after 3 days. Intervals on the treadmill. ππ© Can't wait to get back outside.
Finally got back outside for a run today, and scored A PR.
After a nice exhausting run, me and my girl did a workout on the playground equipment and benches. I think she had fun.
