There are 52 weeks in a year-thats a long time

It has been exactly 4 months since I started Spark. I started losing weight about 5.5 months ago and a month in I found a consistent motivator in this website and the Spark people. In these four months I have lost 38 lbs. I am amazed.
The really incredible part is that every day I'm still a little terrified that I'm going to fall off the wagon...that something is going to derail me and I will be one of those who makes up the overwhelming 98% of people who are unable to lose weight. But every day I sign in, check an article or log my weight loss- I re-affirm ALL of behavior. I am more likely to go to gym, more likely not to eat that cupcake up for grabs in our office kitchen (and its chocolate too), more likely to pass on that last drink at a bar, and more likely to get to bed earlier.
The reason why I find this especially amazing is because I started this journey with the goal of losing 100lbs. and realized that to lose that weight it would take me a minimum of 1 year. (52 weeks a year x average of 2lbs a week=100ish pounds)- and even that calculation was hopeful. It would take me a year at a minimum, if I stayed completely on track. BUT now, I see as time goes on that a year is not that long- it is flying by and the progress although sometiems gruelingly slow and fluctuating a pound here and there is overall- Consisten. There are only 2 more months till I hit my 6month mark on Spark and I'm 12 lbs away from losing 50lbs.
So if you are out there and you have just started. And you think: This is going to take so long. I can never do it. Forget about it. 1 year to lose weight. SCREW THAT! Get up, look yourself in the mirror and say, today I begin. And when you get side-tracked say and today I start again. Because in reality, that is life. Every day we start over. And we chose if we are going to take positive steps to make it better or not.
Today I am taking the steps....and with 38lbs less to haul around to boot!
