Raining on my parade

Friday, October 31, 2008

Alright, today's play-by-play: I got the kids to school, went to Sam's club to have them print out the pics from our weekend at camp, went to the cemetary to visit my mom, went to Michael's to pick up some turtle stickers for my green photo album I bought for the Painted Turtle camp experience and some creative things that will eventually turn into Christmas presents for a couple friend's kids, went to the storage facility to pay for next month's rent, went to Starbucks since I had a gift card and had forgotten to pack a snack so I tried their new fruit drink, got gas, then went to Sam's to pick up the pics then drove home. I was a woman on a mission once I got home, organizing and decorating the photo album, then did dishes, ate lunch, did laundry, rec'd a couple phone calls...picked up the kids, came home, did snacks, helped w/homework, we watched Oprah talk to people from the Biggest Loser, the kids were doing way better together than usual and chose to play the wii together so Steve filled out his ballot and I got control of my piles and paid some bills. We did dinner, showers, bible study and bed for the kids then I went through a pile of newspapers and catalogs for about an hour making some decent headway. I'm tired so will be going to bed soon. It started to rain tonight - ugh...soooooo not my favorite time of year - between dealing w/a powerwheelchair in the rain and keeping Shelby dry and dealing with 20 potential muddy paws between the 2 cats and 3 dogs...not my idea of a good time. Powerwheelchair creators need to create a better solution for kids who need coverage but can't hold an umbrella. In all my spare time, I'll invent the perfect solution but until then...

Oh do I feel for you! I remember when our second oldest, Dustin was stuck in a wheel chair one winter! Not fun!!!! He had a bad accident and almost lost his leg. He has 14+ surgeries to fix it and was in the hospital for a month. He was bed ridden the first 3 months after the accident and then stuck in a wheelchair for an additional 4 or was it 5 months. Right in the middle of the winter! Wheelchairs and snow banks do not mix at all!!!!! I had to buy a huge throw carpet thing to place in our porch to keep the house from getting completely tracked up from the chair. Dustin just hated rolling back and forth and wiping the wheels off on the thing!

Smile, this time of year doesn't last forever - just seems like it!
