Over 5 Billion Calories Burned: Find Out Who Pushed Us Over the Mark!

Wednesday, December 10, 2008

Did you log your latest workout on SparkPeople's Fitness Tracker? Whether you burned 60 calories or 600, tracking your workouts at SparkPeople means something. It means that you're making yourself a priority; that you're taking the steps you need to reach your goals; and that you're using fitness as a springboard to success in other areas of your life. Congratulations!

But keeping track of your workouts is more than personal. It means you're part of something bigger: the SparkPeople movement. Together, our members have started fitness routines, made exercise a habit, and burned over 5 billion calories to date. That's no typo: 5,000,000,000 has nine zeroes.

YOU were a part of making it happen! At a time in history when sedentary lifestyles and weight problems are on the rise, SparkPeople members are reversing the trends. We're exercising, losing weight, drinking water, and improving our diets one person at a time, but we're all in it together!

To celebrate this big milestone we held a contest. We found the member responsible for logging the exercise(s) that pushed us to 5 billion calories burned. Congratulations to MAMATUSA, who has won a SparkPeople prize pack that includes some SparkPeople-branded products from our new store: a lunch bag, drawstring backpack, T-shirt, stress ball, 2009 day-at-a-glance calendar, 2009 monthly tracking calendar, window cling and key chain! Click here for official contest rules and terms.

I hope that every SparkPeople member feels a sense of pride in this accomplishment. So keep moving and logging those fitness minutes!

Make your life an adventure!
