January Update

Wednesday, January 07, 2009

We had the most amazing (although bittersweet) Christmas and New Year's - we spent tons of time with friends and family and made phenomenal memories.

I've been eating clean and have been binge free for one solid month resulting in a 15 pound weight loss.

Steve has had 2 total hip replacement surgeries and we found out last night that he might have to have the most recent one re-done since it's been causing major problems.
Shelby goes in for an MRI in a couple weeks to see if she has to have a shunt put in.
Nanny (my Grandma) fell in her bathroom, crashed into her tub and hurt her ribs.
California's economy is having a few issues and both Steve and I have paychecks that will be effected when the governor makes the changes he is supposedly going to make.
On the bright side however, my mom's house has been for sale for 3 months and I signed paperwork today accepting the counter offer I made and the buyer accepted so now they have 17 days to do whatever tests/appraisals, etc. they want to do.
Shelby's loving horseback riding and Shane's digging wrestling. They both are doing great w/their art bereavement class.

Despite all the ups and downs, life's pretty good right now. I am in a great place and can't wait to see what the rest of the month holds.

Wow, losts going on. Yah, I was wondering how the holidays turned out for you and your family.

I hope Steve can get the issues solved so he can be back to himself. I am sure with his hip replacement bugging him it has to be tough for him. I so hope things work out the easy way for Shelby - poor thing has already been through so much.

Shane is into wrestling huh! Good for him. Andy use to wrestle when he was younger and know his coaches say that his wresting in kindergarden helped him gain incredible balance control which is why he is such a good running back - he is hard to trip up I guess. How's Shane doing. I can't remember a lot of it as it was so long ago but if memory serves me correct if he can get the take downs mastered he will do great. Learning good balance is good too because then he is harder to take down as well. Take downs score more than reversals so they are the trick - that's if I remembered that correctly!!!!

The economy is pretty tough here too. Our state is having to make huge cuts because we are facing a huge defficit. I would hate to be the one to have to balance a budget on a state level! I know all the cuts they are going to have to make are really going to hit hard but what else can they do. Here in MN we have to have a balanced budget with no borrowing - in our constitution - and the only way we can fix the deficit is to raise taxes, increase fees, or cut spending. Hey though I did learn MN can borrow money if another state attackes us and wants to wage war on us!!!!!! Funky the things that are in the state constitutions from so many years ago!!!

Take care and keep in touch!!!!
