So there I was sitting at a stand still weight wise, and as always I was going to the gym 4-5 days a week and wondering why I wasn't losing any more :( I had hit my plateau!!! EEEEKKKK This is also about the time that Had joined this amazing and motivational site, I read other successful member's blogs and spark pages and the pieces of this weight loss puzzle seemed to come together...I knew what I was missing! A versatile fitness plan. Although I was attending the gym and exercising 30 minutes a day, I was doing the same thing over and over and had obviously settled into my "comfort Zone".
As a member of my local YMCA ( p.s. greatest ppl ever!) I noticed that the staff seemed to be assisting other members in training-type sessions. I got up my bravado and approached a young, pretty, thin girl as my heart was in my throat, embarrassed of myself for some godforsaken reason LOL I asked her what these other staff were doing with the members. The young staff member turned to me with a smile and said "training with the FITT-LINX system...are you not registered with it??" I sheepishly looked at the floor and answered "no, is that not for premium members?" She laughed a friendly laugh and offered to get me all set up and on my way.
To my surprise, this young, pretty, fit young girl was amazing, kind, and genuinely helpful and interested in helping anyway she could. I explained the weight loss I had already achieved and the new problem at hand. She set up my new plan, taught me new machines and introduced me to a whole new world of the gym I never would have discovered on my own :) My first task with Tara (my new trainer) was to attend a 45 minute spinning/cycling class!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAHHHHHHH was all I could think! LMAO to tell the truth I was scared out of my wits! Afraid of what others in class might think of me, the "big" girl trying to ride with the pros, afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up, and most of all afraid that I was going to fall off the bike and die a painful death LOL But i built up my bravado and walked slowly into the class. I instantly relaxed when the first thing I saw was Tara brandishing the biggest smile and enthusiastic "you made it!!" I must admit the next 45 minutes were hard, painful at times, and exhausting yet.......refreshing, exhilarating, and most of all rewarding. I felt like a million bucks walking out of the class, the rest of the members in the class giving me a round of applause for completing my very first class:)
At this point I new I had new motivation and confidence in myself. I have changed my fitness plan, following what Tara thinks I might benefit from and most of all things I might enjoy. It must be working because I have jump started my weight loss again and feel great. Only having 15 more lbs to lose until I hit a total of 100lbs lost! I have to go buy a new pair of jeans again :) Just one size down from the last and only one pair ( a tradition I have had since my journey).....Why only one pair you ask??? Because if I only buy one pair it gives me the motivation to lose more and buy that next pair, not buy 3 or 4 and unintentionally settle into that size. I know I know it seems a little strange but I live in scrubs anyways being a nurse so I only need a minimal amount of "day clothes" as we like to call them LOL
Talking with that young, pretty, thin girl........now the most amazing person I have met in a long time was the best decision I have made in this journey :) Thank you to Tara and the YMCA!!! I will be a lifelong member seeing firsthand how far they go for their members:) with my own motivation and the help of everyone there I know I can hit my goals!
