Muscles? I haz muscles?

Do you know where your muscles are? One of the best things I've discovered is knowledge of my muscles; how they move, what they do.
When I first started working out, I didn't. I couldn't feel them to know where they were and what they did. Oh, I could see where they were supposed to be by looking a book, but I'd flex my arm, and -- nothing.
Now (even though I've drifted in and out of shape) that knowledge helps me in exercising, and in daily life. I take pleasure in feeling my muscles and body move, which made me want to move them more.
When doing strength training, feeling the muscle move, and concentrating on it, improves the experience and effectiveness enormously. THINK your way into the muscle; FEEL the muscle move; BREATHE oxygen and blood into the area.
Sounds corny, but it really works. And once you know how your muscles feel like when they are working, you can customize your workout. Get to know the exercises for each body part and what muscles are used. I hate it when exercise coaches or books don't explicitly tell you what muscles the exercise is for!
I wish you joy of your quadriceps, your deltoids, your pectorals. Find them, use them, and feel your body move.
