A LESSON LEARNED

I was feeling a little desperate this morning. I have not seen the scale move down in a few days. In fact, it actually moved up a pound and I was starting to freak out. It seems like when I take 2 steps forward, I take one step back. This is definitely NOT a linear process for me. Anyway, back to this morning... I was feeling a little discouraged and disappointed. I got dressed in my jean and t-shirt for work berating myself for not doing more, not doing better, having to go through this process in the first place. As I was pulling my belt across my waist and buckling it up (which in itself is a miracle because I have not needed a belt in a LONG time), I realized that I was hooking the belt on the second hole. I have been on the FIRST hole since I started using the darn thing. So even though the scale does not reflect total weight loss, belt holes don't lie. The moral of the story? Instead of focusing on the negative, try to find at least one positive thing about this journey each and every day. I am slowly learning to rid myself of all my self-defeating practices. It's taking some time, but every day brings me a little closer to loving my body a little more.
