From a poster in the hospital hall. Try to picture these comparisons visually (like a photo of the 2 items side by side):

1/8 of a bagel (a bite) with 1/2 tsp of cream cheese = 1 whole bagel with fruit preserve.

1 corn chip = 40 baby carrots

1 oz. chips = 10 oz. pretzels

2 french fries (fast food) = 2 whole baked potatoes with parsley

2 nacho chips = 2.86 cups of air popped popcorn

1 carmel, nut & nugget candy bar = 28 red licorice twists

1 chocoate covered donut = 133 oranges

These items are equal:
1/2 tsp. cream
2 packets of 1/2 & 1/2
1/4 Cup whole milk
8 oz. low fat milk
1 gallon non-fat milk

I saw this poster 2 years ago at my dh's hospital & it literally blew my mind!
We were back at the same hospital last week...the facts have not changed!

I wish you could see the photos...2 lousy french fries = 2 baked potatoes! How many french fries are in a medium pkt from McD's?!!!! 20? 30?

Flashbacks of those images makes food choices easier for me. How 'bout you?
