things i have learned/realized from losing 100+ lbs

-i have learned to accept compliments as truth-i used to brush off any compliments i would receive because i felt that people were "just being nice"

-i have learned that i CAN do anything that i set my mind to!

-i have learned that i have a strong will and lots of determination, something that i just had to find within myself

-i have learned that some people do not like or approve of me losing weight for whatever reason

-i have realized that maybe those people mentioned above are having a hard time facing their own issues and it bothers them that someone else is doing it because it makes them realize their own problems?

-i have learned that weight loss is so much faster when i not only eat well, but also exercise

-i have realized that i beat myself up over my appearance way to much-i seem to be even harder on myself now that i have lost the weight, and notice new flaws now that i never even noticed before--i am working on this issue!

-i have learned that weight loss is much faster when you first start out! i have lost about 2 or 3 lbs in this past month rather than the 10 or 12 i used to lose per month when i first started!

-i have learned to hop right back up on the wagon when i fall off

- i have learned that i am a compulsive eater-and its a horrible eating disorder to deal with, and i thank God for helping me get it under control!

-i have realized that losing this weight is a true gift to my son and my loved ones and myself

-i have realized that eating healthier and being more active are great ways to be a good example for my son!

-i have learned that it is a hard way to live being over weight, emotionally and physically

-i have realized that even though i beat myself up over my appearance alot, i still have a much better self esteem than before, and i enjoy feeling good about myself!

-i have learned to wear (and LOVE) color again! i spent way to many years have a closet full of dark jeans and black tops because i felt they were slimming! (as if people didn't realize i was fat since i was wearing black!) i have a closet full of lights and some darks and brights and every color and even LOTS of white clothes! i love it and i feel good in color-i rarely wear black anymore!

-i have learned that it is much less expensive to buy clothing at regular stores instead of plus size stores-i get to save alot of money that way (and looking forward to this fall and winter-i need all new clothes-NONE of my old fall and winter clothes fit me anymore, not even my coat!)

-i have realized that even my shoe size has gotten smaller! lots of cute shoes have gone to waste, but thats ok! its worth it!

-i have realized that it feels so good to go down a jeans size, and to give away the pair i once was so happy to get into, that i am now so happy to get out of!

-i have realized that i am so glad i kept ONE pair of old big jeans (size 22) to try on every so often to get a good look at how far i have come! (now i wear mostly 8s)

-i have realized that even though my husband has always been great to me, that he is much more attracted to me now

-i have realized that weighing 247 lbs did quite a number on my body, and now i have areas of lose skin as battle scars-sucks but i guess i like it loose and hangy better than stretched to the limit!

-i have learned that if i want to be a runner, i just have to keep on working at it instead of saying "i'm just not a runner" i can be if i want to be

-i have realized that i have been motivational to others, and that makes me truly happy

-i have learned to work hard and be very persistent and the weight will come off!

-i have learned that i am strong-physically and emotionally

-i have realized that back pain and knee pain and feet pain are all problems i no longer have since losing weight!

-i have realized that no matter what, i will always try to maintain my goal weight once i get there, and i will always have to work at it

-i have learned that having a great support system like spark people has helped me immensely!

-i have realized that no 2 bodies are exactly the same, but i still cannot help but constantly comparing myself to other women! another thing i need to quit! lol

-i have learned that carrots and celery are not as tasty of a snack as a whole package of cookies and a bag of potato chips, but being 100+ lbs lighter feels a hell of alot better than cookies and chips taste!!

-i have learned alot about nutrition and i believe that knowledge is power!

thanks for reading my blog! i have been thinking of doing one like this for a while, then this morning i read a blog from a girl i don't even know (tcarrier81) with a list of 100 reasons to lose 100 lbs, which was awesome! (check out her blog, it was such a good read!) and i thought, well i have already lost my 100, maybe it's time to reflect on what i have learned and how far i have come! thank you to all my spark friends-you are all such a great support!

Thank you so much for your post. It has inspired me more than any motivation article I've read. I love that you're admiting your imperfections and that it's hard work!

Especially about the carrots and celery! That's so true and you're the first person that's said that! It sometimes feels like I'm the only one that doesn't like the taste of those things...

Congratulations on such a milestone! Enjoy!

I wish I would have taken the time to write out something like this when I lost my 100 lbs. Maybe it would have helped me keep it off. Unfortunately I've gained back 40+ lbs.

OMG, my sister in law also lost over 100lbs and dealt with this. I was just baffled; can't they be happy for her? I guess it's a common phenomenon?

    Anyway great list!!
