In The Box

Friday, September 04, 2009

Have you heard the expression about getting out of your comfort zone, or living outside the box? Well, this extra weight I'm carrying has me definitely IN the box. There are some things I will not do this heavy, and some things I will not wear.

Some things I won't wear: Horizontal stripes, Capri's, tank tops, sleeveless blouses, shorts, pleated-front pants, a blouse tucked in my pants, a belt...these are just some of the types of clothes that being overweight keeps me from wearing.

Some things I won't do: Ride a horse, ride a bike, mow the lawn on the riding mower (I'm afraid I'll look like an elephant on an ant to passing motorists, so hubby does the mowing), hike a trail, walk in front of a bleacher-full of people at ballgames, meet hubby's business associates (he says he's fine with my weight, but I'm embarrassed for him), go to high-school reunions, meet old boyfriends (I avoid that last one like the plague. If I see an old boyfriend coming down the street, I cross to the other side!).

Pondering these things, I've come to the conclusion that I'm missing out on a lot of life by being in that box. I want to feel free, liberated, and proud of myself. I want hubby to be proud of me too (although he says he already is). I want to be his TROPHY WIFE! I want him to be able to show me off to his friends and associates!

Oh, how I long to be out of this box...

I think we're all stuck in that box. You can't give up. Just focus on the postives. I know it's hard and it's easy to get discouraged but think of how far you have come.

Kat, you can do it my friend I know you can! don't let anyone or anything hold you back from getting to your goal. We all have been there , it can be slow and discouraging sometimes but it is well worth it. And you are worth it. Good luck my friend! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Baby steps my friend. Baby steps. Don't jip yourself out of an opportunity for you just because of what we 'perceive' people 'might' think. Maybe if you visualize each of us that have commented walking along beside of you as you begin to take these steps, you'll feel all the encouragement and love we're sending. But I concur with the above posters- You can do it!!! Why I myself was there too not long ago. I finally broke down and bought a v cut blouse for the first time in ohhh...about 10 yrs. People actually said it looked good on me- imagine my shock. I think you'll be suprised at all the good things people really think of you if you just give yourself the chance. I have faith in you Kat! Have a great weekend!

    Take Care,

Just take it one day at a time. Little by little you will venture out of the box, until eventually you will step all the way out.

Oh how I hope you make the choices to get out of your box, Kat. It isn't a pleasant place to live. I know. I used to live in one too ... a big box as I was 300 pounds and trying so hard to hide. Just think how much happier and healthier you'll be when you think and actually get outside your box! You can do it when you're ready!
    Hugs,
