Loss of committment

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Why is that we go along for awhile, with no pitfalls? We encounter obstacles but have the committment and determination to overcome them. Then we hit a low spot where we just seem to coast. We haven't exactly lost our committment but we are not entirely with the program any longer. This is the time we should become vigilant because it is right about now that we run out of steam and lose our determination to reach our goals. It is human nature to become complacent with anything that becomes mundane therefore we need to keep challenging ourselves to strive harder and do better. I wish I had the magic answer how to accomplish this.

Margaret, I know exactly how you feel. My journey has been anything but stellar these past couple of months. But I am not going to give up because I know Spark People has been so helpful in getting me eating right and exercising that I know if I stick with it the rest will come. Also, our team has a 6 month challenge that is realistic and that is giving me something to work towards.
Good Luck! Feel free to joing the One Pound Challenge!

I think it boils down to the fact that we are human beings and change is constant. Change in our thoughts, our mood, our beliefs. The trick is to accept ourselves where we are at any given moment and be okay with it. Part of this involves our word usage. Changing "problems" to "challenges" and creating almost a "game" for ourselves in achieving our goals. If we took the "tasks" of drinking 8 glasses of water, exercise, keeping a food diary and converted these into a game of sorts, we may find we looked forward to tracking and checking things off our list to stay on track. It's just a thought!
