The Power of a Prayer

A few weeks ago a friend of mine at church was discussing her health issues with me. Explaining what a difficult time she was having doing things and the pain she was in etc, I sympathize with her. She is new to the disease she was diagnosed with and i know very well where she is coming from. We talk a lot about medicines, tests, examinations and things she could do to make hr life easier. Well, as I said, a few weeks ago she was telling me how difficult it was for her to get up and get moving, really dwelling on what she couldn't do. And she asked me, "How do you do it every day and stay in such a good mood?" I said to her, First off, I am not always in a good mood every day. i do try to make myself in a good mood by telling myself I am on days I am not and it usually works.
But most importantly, Every morning in my prayers I add, "Thank you Lord for the things I CAN do."
She looked at me and said "What a great Prayer" It's a whole different attitude! I'm going to start using that!
Needless to say, her outlook has been much better these past few weeks. She still has rough days but they are fewer.
So, if you are having a hard time, be it with your health, difficulties with dieting, exercise or whatever. Take a moment and say...
Thank you Lord for the things I CAN DO! Amen!
