Name that tune.....

Thursday, January 07, 2010

Anyone remember this tune?

Oh where, oh where has my little dog gone?
Oh where, oh where can he be?
With his ears so short and his tail so long,
Oh where, oh where is he?

Well, my version is more like this:

"Where, oh where has my new lifestyle gone?
Oh where, oh where could it be?
With my food so healthy and exercise strong,
Please bring back my Sparklife to me!

Bring back, bring back,
Bring back my trackers to me, to me
Bring back, bring back, oh bring back my Sparklife to me!

19 days on the road...eating away from my "safe haven kitchen". Hostility on the homefront. Two ambulance rides to the ER for my dad in two days. His uncertain, but definitely unpleasant future is looming. Minus 10 degrees outside...brrr.... I don't wanna climb that snowy mountain to burn calories.

Remedy for what ails me:
Drink the water. (that's a piece of cake...oops..don't say "cake"!!)
Track the food. (oh, boy... access to a computer & trackers..finally!!)
Start with the 10k steps/day. (not too tough -- plug in the treadmill if it's -10 degrees!)
Stop micro-managing dh & everyone else. (gasp! you're kidding!)
Try laughter instead of tears. (C'mon Deborah & others...write a great blog!)
Sleep in my own bed instead of Dad's recliner. (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, hopefully)
Stop worrying. It fixes nothing. It destroys my health & relationships.

Tune in tomorrow...........

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. It's so hard seeing them suffer and knowing you can't do anything to help. But just by being there I really think you've done so much for him.... and for yourself.

What a great testament to you that you can still see the humour in life! I love your song... I want to make it my anthem, at least until I find my healthy life again. And you find yours too so you can write us all a new anthem, but on a positive side!

But you've got a plan of action and you have to do it because I count on you for inspiration and motivation!

Keep the faith my friend and always, always keep your humour!

Sorry to be so late in reading this. I know you're handling this a great deal better than you think you are. And I know it is a great deal more than you think it is. Have you given any thought to how this really is a manifestation of your new Spark Life? You're thinking about, having concerns for, making adjustments to keep yourself healthy. Sounds like a Spark Life to me. Now when I'm waiting for the microwave to make my herbal tea (counts as 1 glass of water) hot at work, if I'm not doing wall pushups or squats I feel quilty. Sometimes I do them, sometimes I feel guilty, but both times it is a manifestation of my new Spark Life. A life in no small part you helped to give me!

Now if you get that micro-managing others stopped will you teach me?

Welcome "home." Shall we sing a duet?

Let's see -- treadmill or -10. I'd take the treadmill (which I hate) over the -10 (which I have never experienced - thankfully - but am sure I would hate even more) any day. I love your ability to face life with all its ups, downs, ins, outs, rights and lefts with humor. 19 days on the road in the state the roads have been lately and your dad's health are enough to unleash the micro-managing worry twin in anyone. (I'm saying a little prayer for your dad and for you.)

Say, what about watching your favorite side-splitting comedy while you rack up those steps on the treadmill?

wow! I love your sense of humor! thanks for sharing and I hope you will be my Spark friend. You are fun to be with, I can tell. Keep up the positive motivation. I plan to do the same. I have 15 pounds to lose and keep off and they are the hardest pounds I have ever lost. I want to learn to feed myself well, not starve, and exercise in a way I enjoy it, etc. All those good things. Good luck to you! emoticon
