Whose Woods These Are..........

Friday, January 08, 2010

Today I have been lot more productive than yesterday thus far.

It was 5 degrees this morning with a wind chill of -15. Why can't we have this wind in the summer when the humidly is sky high and any breeze would be welcome?! LOL. The wind chill was -24 the other day so at least that is improving. Our snow won't melt off until next week when it gets above freezing. I'm looking forward to that. It will seem like a heat wave to me.

The county and city schools are closed due to the temps. We can stay home today and this weekend but I must admit that staying home without being able to get outside much is not fun.

Normally I love doing my chores outside but not in this bitter cold. I just rush through them as quickly as possible.

The birds are going wild at our feeder. Even Wrenster is eating suet today. Lots of woodpeckers, chickadees, cardinals, nuthatches, goldfinches, purple finches, juncos, white throated sparrows, etc.

It is so cold, even in the house, so I am making some vegetable beef barley soup.

I am going to do some exercise.

Have a great day,

Your soup sounds perfect for the temps you are getting. My son is also freezing, and he's in Florida!
I'd love to see your birds! They really calm me.
Have a great day & keep warm,
    Hugs,

The cold must be heading this way soon!

So the only difference between Frost and you is that your house is NOT in the village, and you WILL be there watching the woods fill up with snow.

Forgive me, I have miles to go before I sleep ...

I'm in WA and our high was 35 degrees. Depends on where in OR your wondering, but OR is 35 mi s, so I assume not cold.

You can keep your -temps. We had them after Thanksgiving, but it's stayed nice now. My sis in TX has colder weather than we do. Just depends on the jetstream.

    I'll send you a snuggie.

Morticia, we had a high of 19 here today, which is pretty cold for MS! I cannot imagine how cold it is in Oregon! We had taco soup for dinner tonight and it sure hit the spot. Snow kind of blew in the breeze today but none of it stuck. Have a good night, try to stay warm!

Stay cozy! The birds are noticing the suet I put out yet. Hopefully they will find it! We had school, but it was cold and messy getting in today. Outdoor recess was fun, all that snow, sleds, and shovels made for some happy three year olds!
    Enjoy the soup!

I'm having some 15 bean soup for dinner. Got to go heat it up. It's good on days like this. Gonna be cold in FL again tonight. Maybe even snow in places, it's in the forecast.. YIKES

Thanks for reminding me about the wildlife, I put out more seed for the birds today.

Your soup sounds yummy! I love bird-watching. The woodpeckers around here suck the hummingbird nectar down like they're using a straw! Stay warm.
