Death must be very tough

Friday, January 22, 2010

Tough day with Dad in hospice. He can't speak, doesn't eat or drink. Sometimes comprehends but usually doesn't. Pushing something away with his arm... I've been 'sleeping' in the room with him..nurses awaken him every 2 hrs to reposition him. He's very restless tonight...I hope this will be over for him very soon. I'm so lucky to be with him. Cancelling Saturday's trip to Mexico was a small price to pay for honor of being with him and offering what little comfort I can.

I know how much I appreciated those last days with my Dad. I trasure those memories now and feel blessed that I could help him as he crossed over to a better place.
Know that I care and I am praying and thinking about you tonight.

I was also very grateful that I could be with my mom during her last days and at the end, when she was finally out of pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I wish I had spent more time with my father in his final days. I don't think he consciously knew we were there anymore, but I think he could sense our presence. May you both have peace.

I am so very sad for you. I know that, no matter how much we love them, we come to realize there are some things far worst than death. I will be thinking about you and preying for your dad. Keep strong my friend.
