So sore!

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Ok, here's a look at how much of a wimp I am. Yesterday, I did most of Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred workout video. It's a real challenge for me, and every time I do it, I end up so sore the next day.

And indeed, today I am very sore. I can barely get down the stairs! emoticon

I'm making it my goal to keep working on the video until I can get all the way through it without being in pain the next day!

I was very sore the next day from that workout video! It is very tough, but you feel so much better after you have done it! It gets better after a while! Keep it up! emoticon

Thank you for the great advice! I love a good long soak, but I guess I totally forgot about that! Maybe I'll go take one tonight :)

I'm going to stick with it. I really want to be strong and well toned more than anything else, and I know I'm not going to get there unless I try. Thanks so much for your encouragement!

A natural remedy for soreness is a warm bath in Epsom Salts. I add a cup of epsom salt (you can get this in the drug store usually found near the foot products) and some fragrant bubble bath. Sit back and relax! After I get out of the bath, my muscles are nice and warm, so I do some nice relaxing gentle stretches.

Another natural remedy is Arnica. You can either get this as a oil, cream or pill. My friend makes her own massage oil with it, so I buy some from her. More effective is the chewable pills I get from the vitamin/natural food store. I take them in place of ibuprofen because Arnica is a natural anti-inflammatory, and I can't take ibuprofen, which is also an anti-inflammatory.

I know a lot about this subject since I injured my piriformis/glute/hamstring area and was in a lot of pain for about 6 months. If it is just muscle soreness, don't give up! It is just temporary, and it will lessen over time, and you will feel soooo good!

    Good luck!
