Challenges and Goals

I'm very thankful for my challenges and goals that I have going on in my life at this moment. They are helping me push myself harder, eat better and make good decisions. I like competition and in the Positive Vibes Team I joined their April challenge. It has been very good for me as far as making sure I do crunches and squats every other day and it has me counting my water, fruits and vegetables. I always knew I drank a lot of water, but after 8 glasses I use to pretty much stop counting. Now I get points for each glass I drink and every fruit or vegetable I eat. Believe me if I'm feeling a little hungry I think about those fruits that I didn't always get in.
So today I had a 50th anniversary party to attend for my Aunt and Uncle. I knew there would be sweets so I made it a goal not to have any sugar. That is also a point award for the Challenge. I usually have 1 tsp in my tea in the morning so yesterday I bought a different tea which I thought I could drink without that teaspoon of sugar. This morning I started my day with my no sugar tea and then went to the party with that goal set. Someone asked me why I would make that goal today and I said for that very reason, not to have the dessert. So my cousin comes along and plops a piece of chocolate cake right in front of me, knowing very well what I love. I gave my piece away and didn't miss it. Well maybe a little, but I'm usually pretty good at keeping my mind set with what I want to do. There was even an emotional aspect to the whole day being my parents who were in the wedding 50 years ago are no longer with us to celebrate. That was sad, but I didn't give in to my emotional eating either.
This day I won!
