5 lbs! Woo woo!

Thursday, April 15, 2010

Well I finally have gotten my first stubborn 5 lbs off! That would make 9 since Christmas! I was just diagnosed w/ PCOS which explains why it is insanely hard to lose weight and the fact I have not been able to get pregnant in the last year.

My husband and I are about to enter a rocky part of life I fear....new/no job, PCOS, trying to conceive, our poor kitty having "issues" and sickness.

5 more pounds and I get to start tanning.

good job! i'm sorry to hear about your diagnoses it definately makes life a little harder. years ago a doctor diagnosed me with pcos. not sure if i did or not but I have not had any symptoms in a long time, my body sure does like to hold on to its weight if that is a symptom! She tried to give me diabetic medicine (diabetes and pcos are somehow linked) to help. The medicine only made me throw up so I learned more about pcos on my own. I wanted to beat it naturally so I educated myself and learned that a low carb diet can help the symptoms so thats what I did, (strictly). I did that for a whole year (a whole year!) and was the skinniest I had ever been. I was put on birth control to make my cycles regular so that helped that.

Just by looking at your pictures you don't fit the description of someone who has pcos. (I'm not saying you don't have it) because only losing 5 lbs. since Christmas after eating right and exercising is cause for concern and definately something is going on hormonilly (spelling?).

Be careful on being strictly low carb. While I was the skinniest I had ever been I did eventually gain it all back. Low carb to help with pcos is good but cutting out all carbs in the long run will catch up with you eventually (speaking only from experience). I don't know if I have PCOS or if I was misdiagnosed I mean I had the most common symptoms, overweight, irregular cycles. Not sure if she just diagnosed me based on that or actual blood work and an ultrasound (its been so long I don't remember). I've never actively tried to get pregnant so only time will tell how difficult that would be if I ever tried.

I work in women's healthcare so I know its a real condition with real struggles. Good luck with figuring out what works best for you and your condition. It's a journey.
