18 years

Friday, June 04, 2010

Today, my daughter turns 18. It's hard to believe that it's been 18 years since I was giving birth to my first child. She has grown up to be such a wonderful young lady but I know she has so much more learn and experience. It's so hard to let your children find their own way, yet so necessary. Our internal motherly instincts want to shield them from all of the world's troubles. I know that it's much better for her to make mistakes and learn from them because no one likes to be told what to do. And it is better to learn from your own mistakes than live your life through someone else. I will definitely have a hard time adjusting to the fact that she is now a legal adult. I'm sure it will get easier with time, but for now I'll just keep looking at those pictures of her younger years and cherish every moment that we have had together and look forward to many more in the future!!
