Making a Difference at Work
Thursday, July 15, 2010
A few months ago I joined a local challenge and shared the information with my co-workers. At that time 4 others joined me and three of us were very successful in taking off a decent amount of weight for the 12 week program.
When the challenge was coming to an end we decided we liked the idea of having to weigh in each week and being accountable to each other. We decided to try to get more of our co-workers involved in a healthier lifestyle so we created our own 12 week challenge. The challenge started this week and I’m happy to say we actually have 19 people doing it with us.
On top of that this week we also had the salesman for our company all in town and they were making a lunch for us today. So I asked the one in charge what we were having and he asked me what I wanted. I asked for some healthy options. So instead of only hamburgers and hotdogs we also had turkey burgers and chicken sausage. I had also suggested a tossed salad and I was quite impressed with the field green salad they had, with multiple low fat dressings. They actually ran out of turkey burgers and ran out to get more.
It now seems like a few of us are really making a difference. I made sure they all knew how much I appreciated their efforts and the great job they did.
