Sparkling is contagious

My best friend and I have known each other since third grade. For the past fifteen years (ah I feel old!) she has been the one person I go to with everything. We have been through it all together, including the passing of her mother when we were juniors in high school.
My best friend, K, has always been a curvy girl. And, no, that's not a polite way of saying bigger. She was quite well endowed before I ever needed a sports bra haha. She has the perfect hour glass figure, which my pear shaped body is envious of.
Over the past few years, K has stopped working out much. She wants to gain control over the situation and get back into shape. I told her all about sparkpeople and how much it has helped me. I have been working out with her every day I can.
TAYLORJE1 also commented on this in her recent blog, I have learned so much from being on Sparkpeople. I know which foods to get at certain restaurants, I know different nutritional facts for way more foods than tend to be normal, and I know about how many calories I burn for different activities.
Last night, I went over to K's apartment and we went to the gym in her complex. It was so nice to see K be so active! She has given up soda and fast food. She is consistently bringing her lunch each day and is becoming aware of portion sizes. Although she used to roll her eyes when I would measure out my foods, it turns out she has been measuring her cereal e every morning! I am so excited for her.
I stayed up late last night making her a motivational poster. Tonight we are doing a sort of pre-assessment (so teacher-y of me haha). We are taking all of her measurements, and then doing a timed mile and a pushup test to see her strength. I made a chart for her to track different things throughout the rest of July and August. I am sure that if she can keep this up she will lose 10 pounds (her first major goal) in that time, easy!
She is one of the strongest people I know. She survived her mother passing away while maintaining her grades, finishing high school and starting college. She never uses it as a crutch or a "why me." K may seriously be the best friend a person can have. She is nuts (but so am I!) but you will NEVER meet a person who is so good to her friends. She would literally go to hell and back for you. It is amazing to have someone like that in my life.
I've been on Spark since March 2009, and I can't help but talk about it with people. It has made such a difference in my life. I have lost about 10 pounds (I already am in a healthy BMI--the rest is vanity from this point haha). I notice the biggest changes in my overall health. I hope that K will experience the same things that this site has brought me. When she joins, I'll post her link so you all can join her on this experience!!
