I'm not loving the fitness loss

Thursday, July 29, 2010

I've had to stop walking at lunch and also had to change my Kickboxing class to a pilates class. I'm very thankful that the instructor let's us do this. The pilates class has it's benefits but when I just calculated my weekly cardio and strength totals for a challenge I'm a part of I was very shocked at how little cardio I actually got in compared to what I have been doing.

The good news in all of this is that my heel is hurting a little less, so hopefully I won't have to be less active for much longer. I have to really consider taking my bike to work or riding it in so that I get more exercise during the day. I have tried to find alternative means of exercise, but cardio without my feet is not an easy one for me.

:( Sorry you have an injury. I guess I missed that somehow. It really does put a damper on things, especially once you become in the mindset of actually wanting to workout.
Hope your heel heals soon. Couldn't resist :P

That's a good idea to ride your bike. emoticon

I know what you mean, now that I've had the surgery I'm worried about not getting in any cardio. 6 weeks is a long time to not exercise. I hate to lose all that hard work. I've started doing some arm exercises that don't require me to do much movement. If you find something sensible let me know.

Cardio with out feet does seem to be a little difficult. I am sure you will find a way...as the saying goes...if there is a will, there is a way. Keep up your constant great work and you heel will be up to par in no time~

I vote for kayaking too. Still have not found my lifejacket.

Biking doesn't work...? Have to get back to that KAYAK! :-)

Some folks in your position have found the Magnetrainer useful. You can pedal with your hands & arms:

You put it on your tabletop.

I can empathize with you on this,I have a heart condition that hampers my abilities to do more,to get more Cardio in. We just have to work with our abilities and what we are able to do and try to not get us down about it.Finding alternatives can be challenging, but possible,I have found this to be true on SparkPeople.I have found alot of things possible here on Spark, and read many success stories, the best part is we are never alone on this journey and I find that comforting! emoticon Diana emoticon emoticon emoticon
