Inspirational poem for the Challenge:

It Couldn't Be Done
Edgar Guest

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "cannot be done," and you'll do it.

I've heard this poem many times in my growing up days. I can still hear my mother reciting it to us at appropriate moments. They used to learn poetry and sayings in the one room school she attended. I think we miss something by not doing that anymore.

Sometimes our journey to conquer ourselves and our bad habits seems like that impossible thing that can't be done. Many will tell us it's impossible, including that little voice in our head that knows our track record.
There are many sparkers who have achieved what they set out to do. It may be difficult but not impossible.

"He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it."
He not only did it, but he had fun doing it. He was singing!
I want to have FUN on this journey to good health.
Enjoy the journey.

    I soooo needed to hear this tonigh! My sister and I have exactly 9 days to pack up our home and move from Kansas City, MO. to Corpus Christi, TX. As I look at the mountains of "stuff" that must be packed, I feel completely overwhelmed. We have had a colossal garage sale, but still, more must go in order to down size in order to be able to fit into a smaller town home or apartment from the current home that my sister owns. God can do this...I just need a calm heart to trust Him and buckle down to the task He seems to have set before us.

    Thanks for sharing this one, Annie.
