I read an article on SP very early in my journey that one way to make sure you keep exercising is to make sure it's fun. That made lots of sense to me since one reason I HATED exercise was that it was either hard....boring....or just no fun at all. So - I set on my mission to try to find exercise and fitness opportunities that I would find fun. I am not a gym person. I don't do crowds and I often try to fit exercise in between other things. So - I love my WIi - I jog in my room a lot with it and I have several games for it. I love to walk in my neighborhood. And I have a Coach Nicole DVD that I used also. I am also a HUGE fan of the 10 Minute exercise streak idea and all of these things can be squeezed into a 10 minute time frame if necessary!! But I like to change things up so I am not doing the same thing all the time.
SO - last Sunday I was in the fitness aisle of my local Walmart and they have DWTS dance DVDs on close out for $10 each. Wow what a deal you say????? So I bought the one that has the Latin flair!!! OMG~~~What was I thinking????? Now I know why everyone loses weight at ZUMBA!! That is hard!! My hips and obliques are screaming today and it's only the third day. And on top of that I am pretty sure that I look like a whale trying to get out of (or into) spandex shorts!! It's hilarious!! And I am liking it!!! The first day I was sure would be the last day - but by the next day I wanted to at least try one more time!! And now I can't wait to go home and practice. Just for fun I wore my HRM and imagine my surprise that in 15 minutes I had burned over 300 calories!! So - I think I may be hooked...but I don't think ANYONE will EVER see me actually dance to that darn thing!! I may not ever make it to Zumba and that is probably a blessing for the rest of the class - but I can Cucaracha and Cha Cha all I want to all by myself!!
