When I first started SP, I really got into it. I totally stuck to the calories I was supposed to eat and wrote down all the things I ate. I didn't start exercising until later, but I was trying really hard to make a difference in my lifestyle. In those first few months, I lost a lot of weight. Probably 20 pounds. But it was easy for me because it was the quiet part of the winter with nothing to do and hardly anything to celebrate.
Then summer came, and I got pretty distracted. Since about the beginning of June, I've only managed to lose another 7 or 8 pounds, and although I'm really happy that I've managed to lose that, I know I could have lost a lot more if I'd stuck with it. I guess a lot of things came up and I found reasons to start eating badly again.
Now that summer is coming to a close again, I'm going to get back into the program and back into taking care of myself. I still have 20-something pounds to lose, and I'm so excited to get rid of it. I've been running three times a week since late spring, and I'm feeling so great physically. I want to stay active through the cold New York winter that's coming up, so I'm saving up to buy an exercise bike. I'd really like to have a treadmill, but I guess that if you want to get one that's strong enough to be used for running, you'll have to pay at least $1000, whereas good quality exercise bikes start at around $350. For me it's a start. I know we'll be doing some winter sports like snowshoeing and sled riding and maybe some snowy hiking, but I really hate being out in the 0 degree wind. No matter how much I bundle up, I can never get warm enough.
But anyway, I don't think I can really start eating and exercising properly until half way through October. Hubby and I have a trip scheduled for next week to celebrate our 3rd anniversary, and then two weeks after that I'm going to Atlanta with my inlaws to visit my bro-in-law, plus tomorrow is my birthday and two weeks from now is hubby's birthday, and October 2nd is the bro-in-law's birthday. There's more celebrating in late September for us than there is at Christmastime.
On in between days, though, I'm trying to eat well and get in some exercise where I can. I'm working my way back through the C25k program. I had gotten most of the way through and had been running 25 minutes straight when I had my appendix taken out, and since then I just haven't had the stamina or flexibility to do what I was able to before. I don't know how far I'll get with the C25k program before it gets too cold to run, but so far I'm up to week three.
Anyway, I guess I just wanted to write to cement the idea of being more into SP again. I hope to get back involved with all my SP friends soon!
