You rest.....you rust!

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

I saw that on a sign at a craft show..and decided it's my new motto. It's so darned true. I've been miserable from horrendous skin rashes and severe allergy-like reactions since the last time I pulled down trees in the woods....so I holed up in the house for a few days. And sure 'nuff....I rested & I rusted!

So I managed a one-day streak (what?!! No trumpets or showers of "congratulations!"). Plenty of water, good food choices, exercise, no snacks...awesome day! The next day, I blew it. Whaaaaat happened?

Today I finally hiked up the mountain despite rumors of mountain lions "screaming" and a moose guarding the trail. I saw evidence of neither and managed to burn 630 calories. So I'm encouraged again.

Boy, you have to really stay alert on this journey...just a couple of days of inattention and the old habits come storming back in. But the reverse is also possible: one day of success results in feeling healthy and back in control. Stay alert....and don't start rusting!

I was out of commission for TWO days and just getting to the gym which is so easy usually was like an impossible mission! I see how so many people start and stop this journey so many times. We really have to stay alert!!!!

You're so right about this! I just taught for two days and didn't have a chance to exercise because of after-school activities. Boy, did that hour-long workout feel GREAT last night!!!

I'm off to walk the dog this morning. I'm surprised he hasn't started howling! Once I log on to spark, the time slips by somehow!

    have a great day!!

This is so true! Months of being "good" can go up in smoke in one short week! It happened to me too. But you've got the secret... don't give up! Just start back to what you know is right and it comes back!

Although I got to tell you with all those wild animals, I'd get myself a treadmill and a wii fit or something!

I'm glad you're back on track! I'm doing my best to get there too!
