A Great Dr. Visit

Wednesday, November 03, 2010

I had to go to the Dr. today. It was that yearly crap appt., and also another look at bloodwork - specifically the mystery platelet issue!! And I have to tell you that again, he was ecstatic with my progress!! I think he is as proud of me as those who love me!!
For anyone reading this that thinks this journey may not be worth it....DO NOT GIVE UP!!
I have been off my blood pressure meds for at least 7 months now. Today's BP was 118/80!!! My triglycerides used to range between 350 and 500. Today they are 87. My cholesterol was always over 210 and I have family history of VERY high cholesterol. Today it was 187. I can't remember what my "good" chol. number was - but it was good as well! I am maintaining my 60 pound weight loss without too much struggle. And last but not least....I feel better than I have since I was in my 20's - which ain't bad when you are painfully close to 50!!
So - Don't give up. This doesn't have to be a huge change all at once for anyone. Baby step your "weigh" to a healthier (happier) you!!!
And by the way - That platelets are back where they are supposed to be now !!
So tomorrow I am going to get 'the girls" smushed, and then I am good for another year. My long term goal is to weigh this time next year - exactly what I weigh today!!

Wow, I'm sure glad I went back in time with you! HOW have I been missing your BLOGS!!! This dr. appt. was a dream appt. for so many! I know how you feel, too! When I went in for my pre-op appt. for my ankle surgery last month, the dr. said, "WHAT!?" when he looked at my blood pressure... Kind of alarmed me! Then, he said with a smile, "Your blood pressure is FANTASTIC! Whatever you've been doing, it shows!" Wow, was I ever proud! Yes, never give up is RIGHT! emoticon

What great news Pam! You are awesome, my friend! I want to be like you when I grow up!
I hope they don't smush the girls too much...just the right amount! If you're going to Thomas, they do a pretty good job there. SB kills 'em!

Great news all around! I am already to a point where I will be glad to step on the scale the next time I go to the doctor because I know it will be a much better number than it was the last time I was there. What a great feeling! I am close to getting off my blood pressure meds too - down to 1/2 a pill a day! Good luck getting the "girls" checked tomorrow - just one of those necessary evils! Have a great weekend!

What a fantastic report!!!!! Just amazing. And don't worry, I'm 55, and the fifties aren't painful at all! I'm liking them better than my forties, in fact! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
