We Are Having Our Cat to Put to Sleep Today

Today is a very sad day. We are taking our 19-1/2 year old cat Emma to the vet this afternoon. She will be put to sleep. I've been unsure for a while when to take her in and have been so conflicted. I figured as long as she was eating, it wasn't time. Well, she's been eating less and less and is having great trouble going to the bathroom. She's in the kitchen right now kind of curled up and looking at me with those sad beautiful eyes.
Today, I decided she's had enough and wants to enter the "Heaviside Layer" to see her mom. Our sweet Grizabella's old body has given up on her.
You see, we rescued Emma's mom Julie 20 years ago from an ice storm and soon discovered she was pregnant. She had six kittens, three were polydactyl just like her. We found loving homes for all of them except Emma.
Emma was always a scaredy cat and a loner - she only liked her mom and hated our other cats. She's never been cuddly but does appreciate head scratches and getting brushed.
I'm going to miss her very much. This photo was taken before she was diagnosed with CRF, she was fat and happy.
