A meaningful blog.

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Today I want to write a meaningful blog.
About 7 or 8 weeks ago I completed school at Kaplan University for my associates degreee in human services. I made the President's list every term. Way back in 1969, I got married at the age of 16, just to get out of going to school. I was cutting classes and getting into trouble, so my Mom signed for me to get married, because she didn't know what to do with me, and was afraid I would get into more trouble. He was in the Army, and had been a friend of the family for 3-4 years. & months later I was divorced. I never went back to shcool until about 3 years ago. I went to school and graduated with honors from High Tech Institute for Medical Billing and Coding. About that time the recession hit full force and without experience, I couldn't get a job. I worked for 8 months in a doctor's office where they trained me to be a medical assistant. They even hired me after my externship was complete, but it was only for one day a week. I couldn't live on that, so then I was flown to Delaware to train as a drug testing technician. I got a job with the company that trained me and have been there ever since. But this job is only 2 hours a day, for 4 days, and 6 hours, one day a week, so.. I went back to school and got my AA degree. Within the last 6 months, I got a job, part-time, at the Salvation Army Homeless Shelter. I am getting 'hands-on' experience that coincides with my degree. During all this time and school, I went from a size small, to medium, to large, and almost into an extra large. Most of this went straight to my belly! The worst kind of fat is belly fat!
About 6 weeksa go, soon after completing school I joined 24 hour fitness and was surfing the web for a way to keep track of what I was eating everyday, and to find some exercise demos, to make sure what I would be doing at the gym, would be done correctly and effectively. That's when I found Sparkpeople.com!!
Sparkpeople.com was exactly what I was hoping for, and a whole lot more than I had even imagined! Everything is in one website, exactly what I need to stay on track, plus plenty of videos, demos, and instructions on what to do, how to do it, and even how often!
The added bonus to the food and fitness tracking are the 'other goals' and the community help and support! All the information I have been given on my health, nutrition, and fitness is amazing!
The community and Spark Teams have helped me feel 'a part of' and have been so supportive and encouraging! I was even able to attend the Vision Collage meet up at Arden Library and meet real life Sparkpeople, face to face!
Sparkpeople.com is all encompassing, mind, body, and soul!
Thank you, Sacramento Sparkles and Sparkpeople!
I started out at 43% body fat, and now I am at 40% body fat! I love the Game Room and message boards, and most of all, the inspiration I get from reading other people's blogs and hearing their stories.
I love Sparkpeople!!
