Nakita Marie and Me
Sunday, November 14, 2010
Nakita Marie is my Siberian husky, a beautiful dog but she has a little ADHD. That is why she has a middle name; sometimes you have to use it. I’m not really sure who is walking whom, because we both fight to be the one in control. When we walk it is at an average pace of 3.5 – 4 miles an hour. I use a garmin to track our miles on new routes and to track the time and distance.
The last three days have been so beautiful here in the northeast for November days. I decided early in the week to take Friday off and maybe get a little me time. As it turned out my me time consisted of washing clothes and hanging them out in the sun shine to dry, scouring the bathroom, doing the dishes, going grocery shopping and picking up my granddaughter from school. The only true me time was walking, Nakita and doing a little bit of yard clean up. However, the evening was spent with a little chimnea fire while we cooked our steaks out on the grill - once that sun goes down that temperature drops too.
On Saturday I took Nakita for another walk to get more cardio time in and to enjoy the sun. We walked a nice route of almost 3 miles and it took us up and down hills. I can feel the muscles in my legs working. It really feels great. As the sun was setting tonight we ventured out again and even though our beautiful streak of days is coming to an end I found peace in the sunset with the clouds rolling in. I accept that if it was always blue skies and sunny I wouldn’t appreciate the great days as much. So for these last three wonderful days (even if they didn’t go as planned) I am thankful.
