Please. stop. whining.

Thursday, November 18, 2010

I have spent several hours on SP this morning and I have to say:
Stop whining! I am actually thinking about quitting one of my teams because of how negative people are.

Look, this is not easy. We knew it wasnt going to be. There are no secrets! Do you not get that yet? Do your profile, stay within the ranges, track your food on SP, do a bit of excercise and no it doen't have to be hard! Go for a damn walk! You do not have to run or join a gym or by a Wii... Just move more than you did yesterday. Put some music on and dance for 20 minutes, just do a little something.

The weight WILL come off! Nobody finds it any easier than you do. Nobdy is "Lucky" to have lost the weight. They have worked hard to do it. We all struggle. It is a journey,

Learn to enjoy your life instead of whining and complaining about how you hate how things are. Especially when you are the one who created it! We only have one. One day, one life. Make the best of it while working towards a better one!

Whining is not the same as asking for help or reaching out because you are having a tough day.
The definition of whining is: A feeble or petulant complaint
Stop it. Please.

If you need help or have questions, I am here but if you just want to whine, call your Mom.

There was someone on here who talked about how she took months to train herself not to swear. And, then she constantly noticed that others swore, and it bothered her. Then it dawned on her that she could only monitor and correct HER own swearing.

    So it is with whining...

It's like a "virus" don't you think? You just can't stay around it or it will affect you one way or another. You're thinking is not wrong. I don't care if it's 70 or the last 7, it all goes away the same way.

Geeze, just keep "dusting their britches"!!!

i've had my ups and my downs, but i've purposely sought out people that are positive. What serves a purpose at one point may not continue to serve your needs as you change. No harm, no foul... it just is.

I have actually quit a team, because the negativity was getting ME, the eternal optimist, down! I have no problem with people with legitimate problems venting some, but I like to see a plan to get past that problem at the same time. Great blog. When you hear me complaining too much, slap me down (uh, virtually, that is!)

Um, it's my party and I'll whine if I want to - whine if I want to - whine if I want to. You would whine too if it happened to you! LOL. No? Okay then. :)

Ha, anyway - I couldn't agree more! Have a good one, love. And let's spend today enjoying the wonderful life we've been given!!!

THIS. I was thinking about this the other day after talking to my dad. My dad just had surgery in his colon so he has staples up his bum. I talked to him and he was fine. No complaints, amazed by medical technology, and grateful that they had found the slightly cancerous growths and been able to remove them. So then i go on facebook and in my head all I'm saying is 'ugh people! it's not as bad as you think, be more positive please!'.

I've lost two pounds in 2 months. I'm sure a lot of people would think of that as a failure and I even find myself at times whining saying 'this is never going to work, etc. etc.' but at the same time I've gained muscle and have gained some very healthy habits. I think some people just get stuck on the number, get stuck with the fear of failing and always being the fat person in the room. To be honest, if one of my teams was just all whining and pity party defeatism I would probably leave it.

Yah, you tell um sister!!!! Maybe we need to start the Just Do It team! It is so motivating to read posts from people who are doing what say they will, whether they are on day one or year three, or have lost 150 pounds or 2 pounds.

What I wish people would understand is that if they don't JUST DO IT today, they will spend as many days as they allow wishing they were thin and healthy or failing and feeling fat and worthless. Don't waste all those hours, days, weeks, months, and years being on a stinking diet! Just get it done now, whatever age you are and have all that extra time for living a full life.

Conversely, if you can't dig deep and JUST DO IT, admit it and live a full life with whatever weight you are and whatever medical problems you have and will get, but don't spend your life wishing and whining about it. If YOU won't take action, it will not happen.

OH GOSH!! I have been thinking the exact same thing lately. I haven't lost weight lately; however, I 100% know it's my own darn fault for eating stupid foods. I've noticed a few people on this site that post NOTHING but negative things.. I can't handle it.. I don't know how to constantly try to pick people up!! At some point we just have to let them fall and pick themselves back up!

Thanks so much for this blog. I saw your picture on another post, and had to check out your page -- love it!
I've been looking for a "no whining zone" since I came here, and it's good to know there are other "Just Do It" folks out there.

    Rock the day,

Love love love it! I have to admit that I whined a bit when I was heavier and even a bit here on Spark about how much weight I wasn't losing (did I think it was just going to fall off me emoticon )? After my minor meltdown/pity party, I picked myself back up and embraced two quotes. Quote 1 - taken from the very wise Yoda, "There is no try. Only do." Quote 2 - taken from Bob Harper, trainer on the biggest loser, "Stand up and finish what you started." I've really lived by these quotes for the past six weeks or so, and in my seven weeks on Spark, I've lost 15.6 lbs! So, I'm with you, sista. I have no tolerance these days for those who whine. Case in point - I really had to hold back the other day when my BF's mother said to me, "I tried a personal trainer once, but it was really hard and they were mean because they made me lift weights." DUH! What did you think was going to happen? Arghhh...
Anyway, I'm glad someone had the cojones to post this blog! Thanks so much - you brought a smile to my face. Have a fantastic, healthy, Spark-filled day!

    Love it!

And please add..."stop making excuses." That one blows my mind. "I can't exercise because...my dog died, my job is crappy, my mom is needy, etc. etc."

"I can't lose weight because I can't eat (fill in the blank), don't like (fill in the blank)," blah blah blah.

People, stop making excuses. EVERYBODY has something difficult they have to get through, go through, deal with, you name it.

Man, I feel a blog coming on...

    Thanks!

You said it, girlfriend! I don't know why some people expect life to be easy; after all , we come out of the womb, kicking and screaming.

I tend to "tune out" whiners. If they have something good to tell me, then I'll listen.

    Good blog! emoticon

Hmmm, I understand your blog as I often get frustrated when I see people who are looking for an excuse to quit, and want us to "allow" it, either on a temporary or permanent basis ..... but, and here's the big but, sometimes people are just letting off steam or looking for a pat on the head to encourage them to keep going.

You're right, it IS tough to do this every day. Almost six months in and I still have days when I think "screw this", even though I am a generally happy soul these days! :)

People let emotions out in different ways. A depressive frame of mind is always going to see negatives, where someone with a happy perspective will cope with the downers in life. Personally, I still like the old "want some cheese with that whine?" when someone is constantly droning on about the same old failures, but I do allow people a day or two of self-pity before I crack out the whiney-whip! :)

I love this about you, Jan --- you are honest and powerful -- and funny too! I haven't been on Spark very long, but you may have noticed how I've gravitated to a few wonderful Spark friends who are ALWAYS honest, powerful, and funny. My real-life (non Spark) friends are like this too. We don't need negativity in our lives, we have enough to deal with already! That doesn't mean a person can't honestly (or humorously) express worry or pain, and it doesn't mean a person can't ask for help. It just means, "Don't whine!"

We all fall. We all get up. At sometime or another we quit, binge and feel so sad we wanna die! BUT we have got to get up and keep going! I too am sick of the oops I did it again and the why do I do this... Get over it or under it!!! MOVE OVER and let someone who really want this to work speak!!!

I do agree with you! I do sometimes need to vent or complain about things in life but I am under no delusion that this is going to be easy. I've determined it's much easier to gain then lose, who made up that rule? lol People still want that magic diet or pill that'll instantly make them thin. A girl or boy could hope right? lol It won't happen, what will make things change is hard work and diligence! Sorry to hear about some of your teams, it does make sparking a not so fun activity when faced with that.

I hate to admit it, but your right! It is easy to complain and whine, some days it's hard to find something to be happy about, but we need to get up and be thankful God has given us another day....Smile, and try to make the most of the day. I'm sure at the end of the day we can find something positive to focus on and if we failed our diet that day, tomorrow is another one to do better. I hope you have a great day! Smile, be happy, and don't let others bring you down! emoticon
