Last fall, I talked to my doctor about weight loss. I had been going to the gym, had a personal trainer who was kicking my butt and still wasn't losing weight. So, he asked me if I was interested in an appetite suppressant. uh, yes please. So, I started taking that and at the same time started a new job clear across on the other side of town. My hours were 10-7. Great for traffic, horrible for just about anything else. So, I ate breakfast on the way to work, had a late lunch and then headed home and went to bed. Needless to say.. I lost about 20 lbs without any effort. I wasn't working out, I just wasn't eating much.
By the time I was ready to start working out again it was the new year and the gym was PACKED in the evenings because of course EVERYBODY is starting out the new year healthy! So, didn't work out. The pills stopped working, and my hours changed at work. The weight came back within six months.

I'm blessed that DH has a great career and I was able to quit my job. I slowly started working out again, but still wasn't seeing the results. At this time I will confess fully that I was cutting things out of my diet, but wasn't tracking my food intake.. I know... I KNOW. Everybody says "keep a food journal, #1 rule of weight loss" (boo, hiss!) I thought working my tail off would be enough... but alas.. no. insert curse word.

So, I was challenged (please read forced) by our SA team leader Lillie to track food and MAKE IT VIEWABLE!!!! Wouldn't you know... I started really paying attention to what I ate and had to consider... Do I really want to have to write this down for everyone to see???? AMAZINGLY ENOUGH I finally started seeing results... so.

I went back and found my weight from January 1, 2010... it was 222.2 I'm about 4-5 lbs heavier than that. I'd like to start the new year the same or a little bit lighter than last year. I'd love to be out of the 220's.

So, here's to the next few weeks and watching what I eat and keeping up with my exercise.

And here's to STICKING WITH IT!!!!

I admit that I too have a problem tracking because sometimes you just don't want to face the reality of 'OMG, I ate that?" but I do notice a difference in my choices when I do track. Good luck, I know you will do great!! That Bodyboot camp sounds amazing by the way, what gym do you go to? Maybe they have one in my area!! emoticon

Well, as I told you at the gym -you are my HERO! You did the body combat class and then headed your behind into the cardio room instead of leaving! Most people I see there just come for the class and then go home! It seems between that and the tracking -you have what it takes to make 2011 a great success! Good luck!

I've found that tracking helps me make better food choices. When I log something, I get to see a good estimate of the calories. For example, I was shocked with the calories in a big slice of Costco pizza, something I would have had a few times a month along with a giant soda. Not any more, it isn't THAT good!

Just like all the tools we use, tracking is an element that if not used will cause the bodies we are building to take longer to get to the place and shape we want them.

You are amazing. As you end the year at the same weight as at the beginning, maybe even a little less, 2010 has been your YEAR OF LEARNING. 2011 will be your YEAR OF GETTING IT DONE. You are so close to getting out of the novice stage and heading full steam ahead into being MASTER of your healthy lifestyle!

Proud of you and proud to be your friend!
